Rural Lands in the Auckland Land District open for Sale or Selection:

RANFURLY, Governor:

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the twenty-fifth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and three; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Open land; about 5 acres flat along road, balance broken; soil good. Fronts main Whakatane-Opotiki Road, about half a mile from Whakatane. There is a good spring of water on section.

Undulating fern and tea-tree land of medium quality; well watered. Situated about nine miles from Mangonui Township.

About one-third mixed forest, remainder scrub and fern; inferior land, broken and stony. Situated one mile from Waimahana Bay and eight miles from Mangonui.

Altitude from 20 ft. to 30 ft. above sea-level. Open land, covered with manuka and rushes; partly swampy; nearly all level agricultural in patches; inferior sandy soil, with sandstone outcrops. Situated on the western side of Hohoura Harbour, with frontage to the harbour.

Nearly all mixed forest; broken land; well watered. Situated about nine miles from Mangonui and half a mile from the coast.

About 40 acres mixed forest, balance fern land, with patches of grass. Situated on coast, about three miles north of Whangaroa Heads.

Open undulating land, covered with fern and tea-tree. Section 42 situated about thirteen miles from Waiuku and fourteen miles from Drury; and Section 53 about eight miles from Waiuku and nine miles from Drury. Access by formed road.

Open fern land, with about 20 acres swamp and about 5 acres mixed forest. Adjoins Horokawau River, about twelve miles south of Raglan.

All deep swamp, difficult to drain, with some flax. Fronts Maramarua River, about eight miles from Mercer by water. Weighted with £24, valuation for drain.

Open fern land of poor quality. Fronts south side of Mercer-Miranda Road, about twelve miles from Mercer.

Broken forest land; clay soil, of medium quality; well watered. Situated one mile from Kaukapakapa Railway-station. A small amount of fencing and grassing has been done on the land.

Broken forest land; well watered; fair soil. About three miles from school and creamery by formed road, and about eight miles from Raglan Township.
