Second Schedule of “The Noxious Weeds Act, 1900,” extended to include St. John’s Wort and Tutsan.—Notice No. 817.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-eighth day of September, 1903.
Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Noxious Weeds Act, 1900” (hereinafter called “the said Act”), His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby extend the operation of the Second Schedule of the said Act by including therein the several plants described in the Schedule hereto; and it is hereby declared that this Order shall come into force from and after the day of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette.

SCHEDULE.
St. John’s wort (Hypericum perforatum or H. humifusum).
Tutsan (Hypericum androsæmum).

Life-saving Appliances for Ships.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this thirtieth day of September, 1903.
Present:
The Right Honourable R. J. Seddon presiding in Council.

WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the sixth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and three, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 56, of the ninth day of the same month, rules were made for the classification of ships, and as to life-saving appliances for ships:
And whereas it was ordered in the said Order in Council that the said rules should come into force on the first day of October, one thousand nine hundred and three:
And whereas it is desirable that the said rules shall not come into force until the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and four:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by “The Shipping and Seamen’s Act, 1894,” and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the said rules shall come and be in force on the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and four, and shall then take the place of the rules heretofore in force.

Native Lands in Ngarara West “A” Block, Kaitawa and Kapiti Survey Districts, to be taken for Roads.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this fourteenth day of September, 1903.
Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken for a public work, to wit, the construction of roads:
And whereas the said lands are held or occupied by Native owners, and the title thereto is not derived from the Crown:
And whereas a map of the said lands has been prepared in duplicate, as required by the eighty-eighth section of “The Public Works Act, 1894”:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the said Act, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby declare that the lands shown upon such map, and described in the Schedule hereto, shall be deemed to be taken for the purposes of the public work hereinbefore mentioned; and the said lands shall vest in His Majesty

King Edward the Seventh, as from the twenty-ninth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and three.

Changing the Purpose of Reserves in Wellington.

RANFURLY, Governor.

WHEREAS the lands described in the Schedule hereto were heretofore duly set apart for public purposes, being a reserve within Class II. of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” and such lands have not been vested in trust in any society, body corporate, or trustees:
And whereas it is expedient that such reserves shall be appropriated for a public recreation-ground, being a reserve in Class III. of the aforesaid Act:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the second section of “The Public Reserves Act Amendment Act, 1889,” do by this notification declare that the said reserves shall, from and after the first day of October, one thousand nine hundred and three, be appropriated for a public recreation-ground under Class III. of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881”; and I do hereby direct that this notification shall be published in the New Zealand Gazette.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 rood 16 perches, more or less, being part of Section No. 152, Town of Featherston. Bounded towards the north by Fitzherbert Street; towards the east by Wellington and Masterton Railway-line; and towards the south by Revans Street: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Wellington.

Also all that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 3 acres and 29 perches, more or less, being parts of Sections Nos. 116 and 123, Town of Featherston. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 109; towards the east by Wellington and Masterton railway-line; towards the south by Harrison Street; and towards the west by Johnston Street: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Wellington.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this eighteenth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and three.

WHEREAS by the two-hundred-and-thirty-fifth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:
