Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Heathcote Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

HEATHCOTE ROAD BOARD.

Notice pursuant to the Provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

PURSUANT to the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers in respect of properties comprised in the Bromley Ward in the Heathcote Road District, to decide by vote of the ratepayers whether the proposals for raising a special loan of £3,000 for a period of forty-one years, with interest and sinking fund payable at the rate of £3 10s. per cent. per annum, notice of which was published in the Lyttelton Times of the 22nd and 29th days of July, 1903, and the 5th and 12th days of August, 1903, should be carried into effect, was duly taken at the Bromley Schoolroom, Bromley, on Thursday, the 3rd day of September, 1903, between the hours of 9 o’clock in the forenoon and 6 o’clock in the afternoon of the said day; and I hereby give further notice that at the taking of the said poll the votes of the said ratepayers in the said ward were given as stated in the Schedule hereunder written.

The Schedule above referred to.

Name of ward: Bromley.

Number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal: 22.

Number of valid votes recorded against the proposal: Nil.

The total number of valid votes recorded at the said poll in favour of the said proposal exceeds three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded thereat: I therefore declare the said proposal carried.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Mataura, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

Notice is hereby given that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Mataura was taken on Wednesday, the 2nd day of September, 1903, on the proposal to raise a special loan of £1,500 for the following undertakings, the respective amounts for each undertaking being set opposite thereto respectively hereunder:—

And notice is hereby further given that the number of votes rendered for and against the proposal are as follows:—

I therefore declare the above-mentioned proposal to be carried.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Porangahau Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

PORANGAHAU ROAD BOARD.

It is hereby notified that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Porangahau Road District taken on the 8th September, 1903, in accordance with “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Amendment Act, 1902,” “The Regulation of Local Elections Act, 1876,” and “The Local Government Voting Reform Act, 1899,” the following votes were recorded on the proposal to borrow £2,500 for the purpose of constructing a bridge over the Porangahau River at Makaramu, and acquiring land for forming and metalling a road giving access to the proposed landing-place at Makaramu, near Porangahau :—

Votes in favour of the proposal, 40; votes against the proposal, nil: majority of votes in favour of the proposal, 40.

As the number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal consists of more than three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded, I hereby declare the poll to have been carried.

THE following special order, made by the Hawera Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

HAWERA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

SPECIAL ORDER adopted by the Hawera Borough Council at a special meeting held on the 15th day of July, 1903, and confirmed at a special meeting of the said Council held on the 24th day of August, 1903:—

Resolved, That the following resolution, adopted by the Hawera Borough Council at a special meeting held on the 15th day of July, 1903, be now confirmed:—

“That, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by ‘The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,’ and ‘The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,’ the Hawera Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £3,948, authorised to be raised by the Hawera Borough Council under the provisions of ‘The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,’ for drainage extension, the said Hawera Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 2d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property within the Borough of Hawera; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of June and the 1st day of December in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.”

MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.

THE following is the result of the poll of ratepayers taken on the 5th instant upon a proposal to raise a loan of £300 under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and amendment, for metalling the unmetalled portion of Penny’s Line:—

Total number of votes recorded, 52: Number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 52; number of votes recorded against the proposal, nil.

The number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal being more than three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded, I hereby declare the proposal to be carried.
