Rural Lands in the Auckland Land District open for Sale or Selection.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the third day of November, one thousand nine hundred and three; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

Second-class Land.

Section 1, somewhat broken; soil poor on ridges, but improves near streams; a few acres mixed forest, balance open land. Sections 2 to 7, broken and undulating, with small flats near streams; nearly all heavy mixed forest; soil generally speaking a good bush loam. Section 8, somewhat broken; soil of medium quality; a few acres mixed bush, balance open land.

Rich flats near streams, balance somewhat broken; poor on top of ridges. There are some patches of mixed forest on Sections 3 and 4; the balance is open land.

Section 1, somewhat broken; soil poor to fairly good; a few acres mixed bush, balance fern and manuka. Sections 2 and 3, undulating and broken; good soil; mixed forest, with a fair sprinkling of puriri. Sections 5, 6, and 7 comprise some fair flats near swamp; soil poor on ridges; a few acres of mixed forest on Section 7; balance of sections fern and manuka. Section 8, somewhat broken; good soil; all mixed forest.

All open land, covered with fern and manuka. Section 1 comprises some fair flats near the swamp, balance rather poor on ridges. Section 2, level and undulating; rich soil near Waikaka Stream. Section 3, level and undulating; good soil.

Mostly undulating and broken land; some little flats near swamp and Waikaka Stream; soil poor on ridges; a few small patches of mixed forest in gullies, balance covered with fern and manuka.

The foregoing lands are situated from twenty to twenty-six miles from Morrinsville, and from twenty-two to twenty-eight miles from Ohinewai.
