drawback shall be subject to the same regulations and conditions as are applicable to drawback allowed under the ninth section of “The Customs Duties Consolidation Act, 1882”: And whereas it is expedient to amend the drawback regulations published in the New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-seventh September, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight (Class D, New Zealand beer), to the extent and in the manner hereinafter specified:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by the hereinbefore-in-part-recited Act, doth order that the regulations under the heading “Class D,” as published in the New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-seventh September, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, be and the same are hereby altered as follows, viz.: All the words after “paid thereon,” appearing in the first paragraph of the said clause, shall be omitted from the said paragraph, and in lieu thereof the words “if the Collector is satisfied that the claim for drawback is genuine” shall be substituted.

Extending Time for holding Elections, &c., South Wairarapa River District.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this tenth day of January, 1903.

WHEREAS by the forty-third section of “The River Boards Act, 1884,” it is enacted, among other things, that the Governor, by Order in Council notified in the Gazette, may extend the time allowed for the holding of any election, whether the day may have passed on which the same ought to have been held or not:

And whereas it is expedient that the time for holding the election of members of the South Wairarapa River Board should be extended as hereinafter mentioned:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the said “River Boards Act, 1884,” and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby extend the time for holding the election of members of the South Wairarapa River Board to the twenty-seventh day of January, one thousand nine hundred and three.

Regulations under “The Government Accident Insurance Act, 1899.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-third day of December, 1902.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by an Order in Council dated the fifteenth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and one, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand did, in exercise and pursuance of the powers vested in him by the thirty-fourth section of “The Government Accident Insurance Act, 1899” (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), make regulations for directing the use of tables fixing the rates of premium to be charged for insuring employers and other persons against their liability under “The Workers’ Compensation for Accidents Act, 1900,” “The Employers’ Liability Act, 1882,” and its amendments, and at common law: And whereas it is expedient to revoke the said recited Order in Council, and to make other provisions in lieu thereof: Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in the exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities in this behalf vested in him, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby revoke the said Order in Council prescribing the rates of premium for the class of insurance as mentioned aforesaid, and in lieu thereof doth hereby order and direct that, as from the date of the coming into operation of this Order in Council, the rates of premium for insuring employers and other persons against their liability under “The Workers’ Compensation for Accidents Act, 1900,” “The Employers’ Liability Act, 1882,” and its amendments, and at common law respectively, shall be as specified in the Schedule hereto; and by and with the like advice and consent aforesaid, His Excellency doth hereby further order that this present Order in Council shall take effect on and after the first day of February, one thousand nine hundred and three.


SCHEDULE.

PREMIUM RATES.

The rates of premium shall be computed upon the amount spent in wages, and shall be fixed by the Commissioner having regard to the nature of the risk; provided, nevertheless, as follows: (a.) In the case of each policy the minimum premium shall be 10s. (b.) Subject to the aforesaid minimum, the premium shall not exceed, in respect of every £100, or fraction thereof, paid in wages, the rate shown in the subjoined table, according to the category in which, in the opinion of the Commissioner, the risk should be classified, with an increase of 33⅓ (thirty-three and a third) per centum on the rates shown in the said table on and after the 1st day of April, 1903 (the date of the coming into operation of “The Workers’ Compensation for Accidents Act Amendment Act, 1902”).
