A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken, under “The Public Works Act, 1894,” for a certain work, to wit, for the purpose of a gravel-pit, in Te Ahitainga No. 1 Block, Otahoua Survey District:
And whereas the Masterton County Council has laid before the Governor the memorial, accompanied by a map, and also the statutory declaration, required by the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that from and after the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of a gravel-pit.

New County of Mount Herbert divided into Ridings, &c.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Counties Act, 1886,” and “The Mount Herbert County Act, 1902,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby divide the new County of Mount Herbert, as constituted by the said Acts, into two ridings, to be called the Port Victoria Riding and the Port Levy Riding, and declare that the boundaries thereof shall be those set forth under the names of the said ridings respectively in the Schedule hereto.
And I do hereby declare that four members shall be elected for each of the abovenamed ridings.
And I do further declare that Friday, the thirtieth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and three, shall be the day upon which the election of the first Council of the said County of Mount Herbert shall take place, and that Thursday, the fifth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and three, at two o’clock in the afternoon, shall be the time, and the schoolhouse at Charteris Bay shall be the place, at which the first meeting of the said Council shall be held.
SCHEDULE.
PORT VICTORIA RIDING.
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, in the Mount Herbert County, bounded towards the north-east by the Borough of Lyttelton from the summit of the Port Hills to the sea; thence by a right line to Church Gully, in Church Bay; thence by the said Church Gully to the Mount Herbert Peak Road; thence by the Mount Herbert Peak Road to its intersection by the production of a right line from Mount Herbert to Herbert Peak; thence towards the south generally by the southern boundary of Mount Herbert County, as described in the Schedule to “The Mount Herbert County Act, 1902,” to the summit of the Port Hills; and thence towards the west and north-west by Selwyn County, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 47, 19th June, 1902, to the place of commencement.
PORT LEVY RIDING.
All that area in the Canterbury Land District, in the Mount Herbert County, bounded towards the north generally by the sea from Church Gully, in Church Bay, to the road in Big Bay which intersects Rural Section No. 27872; thence towards the east and south generally by the eastern and southern boundaries of Mount Herbert County, as described in the Schedule to “The Mount Herbert County Act, 1902,” to Port Victoria Riding; and thence towards the south-west by the Port Victoria Riding, hereinbefore described, to Church Bay, the place of commencement.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-third day of December, 1902.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it is enacted by the ninth section of “The Customs Duties Consolidation Act, 1882,” that the Governor may, by Order in Council, from time to time specify the articles on which a drawback of duty paid on importation into New Zealand may be allowed on exportation therefrom, and the rate of drawback to be so allowed; and may alter and cancel any such Order, and may approve of regulations and conditions under which drawbacks may be allowed: And whereas the ninth section of “The Customs and Excise Duties Act, 1888,” provides that a drawback of duty paid on New-Zealand-brewed beer may be allowed on the exportation thereof in bottle, and such
