THE following special order, made by the Hutt River Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

HUTT RIVER BOARD.
Special Order.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The River Boards Act, 1884,” the Hutt River Board hereby resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a further loan of £1,800 authorised to be raised by the Hutt River Board, under the provisions of section 68 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the construction of protective works in the Hutt River District, and the acquisition of lands in connection therewith, and the payment of compensation to any persons in connection with the carrying-out of the said works or with the acquisition of the said land, and for paying engineering and other expenses and contingencies in connection with the said loan, the said Hutt River Board doth hereby make and levy by way of special order a special rate over the whole of the Hutt River District—namely, of ¼d. in the pound to be made and levied on Class I. of the lands within the said district (being the lands liable to great actual damage), and a special rate of ⅛d. in the pound to be made and levied within the said district on Class II. of the said lands (being the lands liable to less actual damage), and a special rate of ⅛d. in the pound to be made and levied within the said district on Class III. of the said lands (being the lands indirectly liable to damage), and that such special rates shall be annually recurring rates during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of June and the 1st day of December in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off; and that the Clerk to the Hutt River Board be the person appointed to collect the said rates.
I, the undersigned Dilnot Sladden, Chairman of the Hutt River Board, hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was passed at a duly constituted special meeting of the said Board on the 23rd February, 1903.
And I further certify that the said resolution was duly confirmed as a special order of the Hutt River Board at a special meeting of the Board held for that purpose on the 26th March, 1903.

RESOLUTION.
THAT the following special order be adopted, and that a subsequent meeting be held on the 25th day of March, 1903, at the Council Office, Coromandel, at 7.30 p.m., to confirm this resolution, and that the special order do take effect on the 26th day of March, 1903.

Special Order making Special Rate.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Counties Act, 1886,” and other Acts, the Coromandel County Council hereby resolves as follows:—
That for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £800, authorised to be raised by the Coromandel County Council, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and especially section 68 thereof, for the completion of the waterworks for the Coromandel Water-supply District, the said Coromandel County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate (in addition to the special rate made and levied by special order on the 8th January, 1901) of ⅛d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Coromandel Water-supply District, comprising all that portion of the Coromandel County bounded commencing at a point at the mouth of the Huaroa Creek, following the said creek to the Tihi Road; thence along the north-west boundary of the Pukemaukuku Block to Aitken’s Creek; thence down the said Aitken’s Creek to its junction with the Karaka Creek; thence down the Karaka Creek to the south-east corner of Torotepeka Block; thence along the eastern boundary of Torotepeka Block; thence along the south-east and north-east boundaries of the Kapanga Township to the Taumata-wahine Stream; thence by a straight line to the south-east corner of the Kahakaharoa Block No. 2; thence along the eastern boundary of the last-mentioned block to the Kahakaharoa Stream; thence by a straight line to the south-east of the hospital reserve; thence along the western boundary of the recreation reserve to Cemetery Road; thence to the south-western corner of the Buffalo Cemetery; thence along the western boundary of the said cemetery to Block 2, Parish of Kapanga (Ring’s Block); thence along the southern, eastern, and northern boundaries of the said block to Whangarahi Creek; thence down the said creek to the Kauri Block; thence along the eastern and north-western boundaries of the Kauri Block to the Coromandel Harbour; thence along the high-water mark of the said harbour to the point of commencement. And that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of June in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off; the rate of interest on such loan to be £3½ per centum per annum.
The above special order was made by a special resolution passed at a special meeting of the Coromandel County Council held on the 23rd day of February, 1903, which resolution was confirmed at a meeting held on the 25th day of March, 1903.

I, WALTER HORATIO PHILLIPS, Mayor of the Borough of Waihi, hereby give notice, in terms of the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments, and “The Local Bodies’ Goldfields Public Works and Loans Act, 1901,” that the result of a poll of ratepayers, taken in the Miners’ Union Hall, Waihi, on the 28th January, 1903, on the proposal to borrow £15,000 for the construction of waterworks, was as follows:—
Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 295; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 66: majority in favour of the proposal, 229. Informal, 4.
I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.
