LIGHT ON JACKSON’S HEAD BEACON, ENTRANCE TO QUEEN CHARLOTTE SOUND.
Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 23rd March, 1903.
NOTICE is hereby given that a Wigham beacon lamp, at a height of 37 ft. above high water, has been erected on Jackson’s Head beacon, and is to be lighted on the 21st April, 1903. It will show a fixed white light, and will be visible all round the horizon, except when obscured by the land about Cape Jackson, between the magnetic bearings of N. 35° E. and N. 5° W., and it should be seen in clear weather at a distance of five miles. As the elevation would make it possible for the light to be seen about eleven miles and a half, if sufficiently bright, it is probable that in very clear weather the light may be seen beyond the limit of five miles, as given in the notice.
