WAIKINO ROAD BOARD.
Special Order.
HIS Board now make a special rate of 3¼d. in the pound on the rateable value of the properties comprised within the boundaries of the Paiaka Special-rating District, as constituted and confirmed by special order made on the 16th July, 1902, to provide for interest and other annual charges for a period of forty-one years on a loan of £50, being £10 per centum of £500 loan for the said special district under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” as the amount of loan was insufficient to complete the works.
I hereby certify that the foregoing special order has been duly passed in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD.
THE following special order has been made by the Waitara West (No. 11) Road Board :—
“That for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £1,500, authorised to be raised by the Waitara West Road Board, under the provisions of ‘The Local Bodies’ Loans Act 1901,’ to form, grade, and metal a portion of the Kelly Road, the said Waitara West Road Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of ⅞d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Kelly Road Special rating District, comprising Sections 146, 147, 148, 144, 145, 138, 135, 137, 136, 134, Block XIII., Waitara; Sections 62, 57, 58, 66, 139, 142, 143, 154, 55, 56, 54, 123, 60, 61, 141, 59, 140, 124, 49, 51, 52, 67, 65, Block IX., Waitara; Sections 112, 47, 43, 44, 48, 68, part 45, part 46, Block VII., Paritutu; Sections 113 and part 110, Block III., Paritutu; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off; and that the interest on such loan is to be at the rate of 3¼ per centum per annum.”
I hereby certify that the above special order has been made and confirmed by the Waitara West Road Board, in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.
THE following is a copy of a special order passed by the Manawatu County Council at a special meeting held on the 11th February, 1903, and confirmed at a special meeting held on the 18th March, 1903 :—
“That, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by ‘The Counties Act, 1886,’ the Manawatu County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £600, authorised to be raised by the Manawatu County Council, under the provisions of ‘The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,’ for construction of the Kakariki and Gust’s lines of road, the said Manawatu County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 2¼d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Sandon District, comprising all the rateable property lying within the Sandon Riding; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly in one sum at the county offices, Sanson, on the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.”

NEWCASTLE ROAD BOARD.
A POLL of the ratepayers of the Newcastle Road District was taken at the Board Office, Ohote, on the 25th day of February, 1903, on a proposal of the Board to raise a loan, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” of £220 for making concrete culverts, £225 for grading and forming roads, and £55 for graveling roads; the loan to be for a period of forty-one years, at 3½ per cent. per annum.
Votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 19; votes recorded against the proposal, 2.
As the number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal exceeds the three-fifths required by the Act, I declare the proposal carried.
