  1. The Victoria Valley Riding: To be bounded on the west by the western boundary-line of the Kaiaka Parish; on the north by the northern boundary of the Kaiaka Parish till it reaches Section 23, Oruru Parish; and thence along the southern boundaries of Sections 23, 22, W. 21, E. 21, S.W. 17, S.E. 17, 13, 11, 41, 40, and 31, Oruru Parish, following the main road to the finger-post at Peria and Victoria Valley Junction; thence along the centre of the surveyed road towards Maungataniwha Trig. Station till it touches the south and western boundary of Section 139, Maungataniwha Parish, and from this point along the eastern boundary of the Kaiaka Parish until the trig. station at Maungataniwha; the line of the Hokianga County being the extreme southern boundary.

  2. The Oruru Riding: To be bounded on the west by the right bank of the Mangatete River and the abovementioned boundaries of the Victoria Valley Riding; on the north by the coast-line unto the mouth of the Taipa River; thence along the surveyed road-line on the right bank of the said river, and following the southern boundary of the Crown land kauri-gum reserve of Taipa along the eastern boundaries of Sections 22, 21, 143, and 137 of the Oruru Parish; thence to the Whangaroa County line by the line of the boundary of the Oruru Parish, the lines of the Whangaroa County and the Hokianga County forming the southern boundary-line.

  3. The Mangonui Riding: The remaining portion of the Mangonui County not specified within the abovementioned boundaries to be the Mangonui Riding.

Special Order made by the Wairarapa South County Council merging Taratahi-Carterton Road District.

Wairarapa South County Council.

SPECIAL order duly passed by the Wairarapa South County Council at a special meeting held on 26th day of November, 1902, and duly confirmed at a subsequent meeting of the said Council held on the 27th day of December, 1902:—

“That, whereas a petition has been presented to this Council, signed by a majority of the ratepayers of the Taratahi-Carterton Road District, possessing in the aggregate not less than one-half of the rateable property therein, praying that the Wairarapa South County Council shall pass a special order dissolving the Taratahi-Carterton Road Board, and merging the Taratahi-Carterton Road District in the Wairarapa South County: And whereas evidence has been produced showing that the said petition has been published for not less than one month before presentation: Now this Council, by way of special order, does order that the said Road Board shall be dissolved, and the said Road District shall be merged in the Wairarapa South County, and that such merger shall take effect on and after the 15th day of January, 1903.”

Hawera County.

Special Order making and levying Special Rate.

Copy of resolution adopted at a special meeting of the Council held on Saturday, 20th December, 1902:—

That, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Counties Act, 1886,” the Hawera County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing interest and other charges on a loan of £400 authorised to be raised by the Hawera County Council, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the purpose of constructing the Campbell Road from the Mangawhero Road to the southward a distance of, say, 75 chains, the said Hawera County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property in that portion of the Eltham Riding of the Hawera County comprising the southern half of Section 23, Section 24, parts Section 25 (Cameron and Miller), Block 14, Ngaire; part Section 5 (Willy), Sections 1, 2, 4, Block 15, Ngaire: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 15th day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully paid off: and that the interest on the loan is at the rate of 4½ per cent. per annum.

I hereby certify that the resolution initiating the above special order was adopted at a special meeting of the Council held on Saturday, 20th December, 1902, and duly confirmed at a meeting held on Saturday, 21st February, 1903.

THE following special order, made by the Wairarapa South County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

Wairarapa South County Council.

In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Amendment Act, 1902,” section 11.

It is hereby notified that the Council of the County of Wairarapa South has by special order, duly passed the 26th day of November, 1902, and duly confirmed the 27th day of December, 1902, ordered that the Taratahi-Carterton Road Board shall be dissolved and the Taratahi-Carterton Road District shall be merged in the Wairarapa South County, such merger to take effect from and after the 15th day of January, 1903.

The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Wairarapa South has this 3rd day of March, 1903, been affixed hereto by the authority and direction of the Council of the said County, in the presence of—

I HEREBY give notice that the result of the poll taken on Thursday, the 26th day of February, 1903, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £2,000 for the construction of water-supply works and £10,000 for the construction of drainage-works, is as follows:—

Number of votes in favour of the proposal, 125; number of votes against the proposal, 55: majority in favour of the proposal, 70.

As the majority of votes are in favour of the proposal, I therefore declare it duly carried.
