Volunteer Regulations (Paragraphs 93 to 100 and 255 to 263) cancelled, and other Regulations substituted.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the cancellation of paragraphs 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 100, 255, 256, 257, 258, 259, 260, 261, 262, 263, of Volunteer Regulations, 1899, relating to the Reserve Corps, officers Active and Honorary Unattached Lists, and to substitute the following in lieu thereof:—
Paragraph 255. There shall be two lists for officers of Permanent Force, Militia, and Volunteer Force—that is to say, an Active List and a Retired List.
Active List.
The Active List shall consist of all officers of the Permanent Force, Militia, and Volunteer Force who have not yet reached the age for retirement, and who are in every respect fit for active service in the field.
Retired List.
The Retired List shall consist of (1) such officers of Permanent Force, Militia, or Volunteers who from any disability may be unfit for active service in the field, and (2) such officers who, having been appointed subsequent to this date, shall reach the ages prescribed therein for retirement, viz:—
Colonels and Lieutenant-Colonels .. .. 55 years.
Majors .. .. .. .. 50 "
Captains .. .. .. .. 45 "
Lieutenants .. .. .. .. 40 "
These periods of service may in each case be extended for such a period as the Commandant may recommend and the Hon. the Minister of Defence approve.
No officer who has served for less than seven years in the Permanent Force, Militia, or Volunteer Force will be eligible for transfer to the Retired List.
No step in rank will be given on transfer to the Retired List to any officer with less than fifteen years’ efficient service, and then only under special circumstances.
Service on the Retired List will not count towards any medal or decoration.
Officers on the Retired List will not under any circumstances be allowed to retransfer to Active List.
Officers on the Retired List will retain their rank, and will be allowed to wear the uniform of the corps they last served in.
His Excellency is further advised to approve of those officers whose names appear in the Reserve Corps and Active Unattached List to be transferred to the Active List, and of the transfer of those officers whose names appear on the Honorary Unattached List to the Retired List.

Mangonui County Ridings.

The Hohoura Riding: Northwards of a line drawn from the west coast along the northern boundary of Section 44, Ahipara District, following the northern boundaries of Sections 43 and 42 of the same district, till the same touch the left bank of the Awanui River, and from that point following the left bank of the Awanui River till it reaches Rangaunu Bay, crossing by an imaginary line to the mouth of the Okapiti River, and ceasing at an imaginary point on the left bank of the said Okapiti River; therefore excluding the islands at the mouth of the Okapiti River.

The Kaitaia Riding: The northern and western boundary to follow the line of the aforesaid Hohoura Riding; thence from the mouth of the Okapiti River, along the marine front of Rangaunu Bay to the mouth of the Mangatete River, the extreme eastern boundary being the right bank of the Mangatete River until the stream is cut by the boundary of Kaiaka Parish; thence following the Kaiaka Parish boundary-line till the Ahipara Parish Survey District line cuts it; from this the southern boundary being the Ahipara Parish Survey District line till it is crossed by Section 1, Ahipara Parish (education reserve), and following the southern boundaries of this section along the southern boundaries of Okahu, Section S.W. 54, Section 53, W. G. Puckey’s grant, and the Native land in the Takahue Survey District, Block IX.; thence to the west coast beach along the boundary of the Ahipara Survey District.

The Herekino Riding: To be bounded on the north by the abovenamed boundary of the Kaitaia Riding; on the east by the Kaiaka Parish boundary; on the west by the natural coast-line; and on the south by the Hokianga County.
