Rural Land in the Auckland Land District open for Sale or Selection.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on and after the twenty-ninth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and three; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the price at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—OPOTIKI COUNTY.
Unsurveyed Second-class Land.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, situate in Blocks XI. and XII., Opotiki Survey District, and Blocks III. and IV., Waioeka Survey District, containing by admeasurement 9,770 acres, more or less. Bounded towards the north-east generally by Sections Nos. 325, 326, 327, 328, 329, and 330 of the Parish of Waioeka, and by Sections Nos. 1, 7, 6, and again by Section No. 7, of Block XII., Opotiki Survey District; towards the east generally by a road 100 links wide running along the western bank of Te Waiti Stream; towards the south by the confiscation boundary-line; towards the west generally by a road 100 links wide running along the eastern bank of the Waioeka River, by Sections Nos. 5 and 2 of Block III., Waioeka Survey District, and by Sections Nos. 375A and 441 of the Parish of Waiotahi; and towards the north-west generally by a public road, by Sections Nos. 4, 3, and 1 of Block III., Waioeka Survey District, by Section No. 1 of Block XI., Opotiki Survey District, by Sections Nos. 373, 372A, 365A, 366, and 367 of the Parish of Waioeka, and by a public road to the point of commencement: save and except Sections Nos. 2, 3, 4, and 5 of Block XII., Opotiki Survey District, and Sections Nos. 1, 2, and 2A of Block IV., Waioeka Survey District, from the area hereinbefore described.

Description of land: Altitude, from 100 ft. to 2,400 ft. above sea-level; very broken and steep in places; covered with mixed forest, chiefly tawa, with patches of towai or black-birch; well watered; soil fair for the most part, but poor on tops of ridges. Land is suitable for sheep if taken up in large areas. The block is situated from seven to twelve miles south of Opotiki, and can be approached either by the Waioeka River Road, the Otara River Road, or by road now being constructed up the Tutaetoko Stream.

Cash price, 9s. per acre; occupation with right of purchase, 5·4d. per acre per annum; lease in perpetuity, 4·32d. per acre per annum.

Rural Land in the Southland Land District open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural land mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on and after the twenty-ninth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and three, and that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may be selected on lease in perpetuity only, in accordance with the provisions of section one hundred and twenty-one of the said Act, as it contains, or is supposed to contain, metals, minerals, or valuable stone; and I do hereby also fix the price at which the said land shall be leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892,” and “The Mining Act, 1898,” and amendments.

Situated about one mile and a half from Nightcaps Railway-station. Open pastoral land; soil inferior. Weighted with £67 2s. valuation for improvements, consisting of fencing, ditching, 12 acres in grass, and 20 acres ploughed.

Declaring Road-lines through Land in the Chamberlain Settlement to be closed.

RANFURLY, Governor.

WHEREAS a report has been received from the Surveyor-General, from which it appears that the roads described in the Schedule hereto are unformed and unused, and that they intersect land acquired under “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900,” and are not suitable for the subdivision of such land:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of section sixty-nine of the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do by this notice hereby close the roads herein after described, and I do hereby declare that they shall thereupon become subject to the said Act.
