STRATFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Special Order making Special Rate.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Stratford Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £2,000 authorised to be raised by the Stratford Borough Council, under the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the construction of a septic tank, acquisition of site for same, and completion of drainage-works for the Borough of Stratford, the said Stratford Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1½d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property in the Borough of Stratford; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of April and the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off; the rate of interest to be paid to such loan to be 3½ per cent. per annum.
The above resolution was duly passed at a special meeting of the Stratford Borough Council held on 20th January, 1903, and confirmed at a special meeting of the said Council held on 24th February, 1903.

TARANAKI COUNTY COUNCIL.
RESULT of poll of ratepayers of the Taranaki County taken on Wednesday, 7th January, 1903, on the proposal to raise a special loan as follows:—

To reconstruct bridges on roads under the jurisdiction of the Taranaki County Council.

To borrow for such purpose, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” amounts that may from time to time be required.

To strike as security for repayment of such loans, together with interest thereon, a special annual-recurring rate over the whole of the Taranaki County, to be called a “bridge rate,” such rate not to exceed in any one year the amount of 1½d. in the pound on the capital value of all rateable property comprised within the County of Taranaki.

The cost of raising the loan and raising the rate to be charged against the general county fund:—
Number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 592; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 216.
As the number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal exceeds three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll, I declare the said proposal carried.

SPECIAL LOAN of £3,250, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for executing Drainage-works in Borough.
I HEREBY give notice that at a poll of ratepayers, taken on Tuesday, 24th day of February, 1903, on the proposal of Oamaru Borough Council to raise a special loan, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” of £3,250, for a period of forty-one years, at 3½ per cent., for carrying out of certain drainage-work in borough, as per schedule duly advertised, the following votes were recorded:—
For the proposal, 190; against the proposal, 63; informal, 1; total, 254; majority in favour of proposal, 127.
I therefore declare the proposal duly carried.

HAWERA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
PROPOSAL to raise a special loan under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” upon which a poll was taken on the 25th day of February, 1903:—

Drainage extension, £3,673; general street-improvements, £1,552; interest during progress of works, £275: total, £5,500.

The sum proposed to be borrowed is £5,500, as set forth above.

The security for such loans to be pledged is a special rate of 4d. in the pound upon all rateable property within the borough.
Result of Poll.—The result of the polling was as follows: For the proposal, 123; against the proposal, 19: total number of votes recorded, 142.
I, Benjamin Conrad Robbins, Mayor of the Borough of Hawera, do solemnly and sincerely declare that all proceedings required by law to be taken in or towards obtaining the sanction of the ratepayers to the proposal referred to in the foregoing notice have been duly taken, and that the resolution in favour of the proposal has been duly carried; and I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

THE following is the result of a poll of ratepayers of the Otokia Drainage District, County of Taieri, taken on Thursday, the 26th day of February, 1903, upon the proposal to raise a special loan of £350 for drainage-works:—
For the proposal, 42 votes; against the proposal, 7 votes; informal, nil: total votes recorded, 49.
As the number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal exceeds three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll, I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.
