THE following special order, made by the Sumner Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

BOROUGH OF SUMNER.
Special Order making Special Rate.
THAT, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments, and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, the Sumner Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £3,500 authorised to be raised by the ratepayers of the drainage area of the Borough of Sumner, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments, for the purpose of the construction of septic tanks and the purchase of all pipes, ventilating covers, and other material, and the construction of all necessary works for the drainage of the drainage area of the Borough of Sumner, the Sumner Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special annual-recurring rate of 1d. in the pound sterling upon the rateable value of all lands within the drainage area of the Borough of Sumner, as set forth in the drainage plans of the said borough, which area is bounded as follows: Commencing at a point in the Heberden Road being the south-east corner of Town Lot 160, Rural Section 144; thence in a north-westerly direction in a line parallel with and 2½ chains from the south side of Colenso Street to the Lyttelton Road; thence following the west side of that road to the old Christchurch Road, and thence in a north-westerly direction a line 10 chains south of and parallel to the south side of the said old Christchurch Road to Rural Section 20723; and thence in a north-easterly direction along the eastern boundary of that section to the old Christchurch Road; from thence in a northerly direction along that road to high-water mark; thence in an easterly direction following high-water mark to the Heberden Road; thence southerly along the west side of Heberden Road to the commencing-point; and also to include Reserve No. 39. And that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of February and 1st day of August in each
and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
The above resolution was passed at a special meeting of the Sumner Borough Council on Tuesday, the 30th day of December, 1902, and confirmed at a special meeting of the said Council held on Wednesday, the 28th day of January, 1903.

HAWERA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
SPECIAL order for raising a loan of £5,000 for forty-one years, at 3½ per cent. per annum, for the purpose of erection of public abattoirs, acquiring a suitable site for same, and connecting abattoirs with borough water and drainage system, under “The Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1900,” and subsection (c) of section 59 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901”:—
“Whereas at a special meeting of the Council held on Friday, the 5th day of September, 1902, a resolution to the following effect was adopted: ‘That the Hawera Borough Council, in pursuance of the powers vested in them under “The Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1900,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” do borrow the sum of £5,000 sterling by way of a special loan (to be hereafter known as the Hawera Borough Abattoirs Special Loan) for the purpose of providing and carrying out the erection of public abattoirs, acquiring a site for same, and connecting abattoirs with Hawera Borough water and drainage systems under the powers in that behalf vested in the Council by the said Acts. That such special loan be obtained from the Treasury of New Zealand, and shall be for a period of forty-one years, and interest to be paid is at the rate of 3½ per cent. per annum, as per subsection (c) of section 59 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”’”

That this Council do now resolve that the following resolution—viz., “That, in pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in them by ‘The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,’ ‘The Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1900,’ ‘The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,’ and all other powers and authorities them thereunto enabling, the Timaru Borough Council (the said borough containing a population of not less than two thousand persons) hereby resolve to raise an additional special loan of £1,000 for a period of forty-one years, bearing interest at the rate of £3 10s. per centum per annum, payable half-yearly, for the undermentioned undertaking: To complete
