All that area in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay bounded towards the south generally by the Woodville County, commencing at the point where the Manawatu River intersects the Woodville County boundary; thence down the Manawatu River in a westerly direction to its intersection with the Otope Stream; thence up the Otope Stream to its intersection with the southern boundary-line of Kaitoki No. 3 to Mangatoro No. 1 Blocks; thence towards the east generally by the Mangatoro Nos. 1, 2, and 3 Blocks to the Puketoi No. 6B Block; thence by the Puketoi No. 6B and No. 6A Blocks to the northern boundary-line of the Pahiatua County; thence in an easterly direction along the boundary-line of the Pahiatua County and the Patangata County to the intersection with the Ormondville Riding boundary; thence in a westerly direction along the boundaries of the Ormondville and Norsewood Ridings to the intersection with the Dannevirke-Norsewood Main Road; thence in a southerly direction along the Dannevirke-Norsewood Main Road to its intersection with the Mangatera Stream; thence down the centre of the Mangatera Stream to its intersection with the Dannevirke-Weber Main Road; thence along the Dannevirke-Weber Main Road in a southerly direction to its intersection with the Manawatu River; thence down the centre of the Manawatu River to the place of commencement.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Borough of Palmerston North.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Palmerston North, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900.”

PALMERSTON NORTH BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The Hon. the Colonial Secretary for the Colony of New Zealand, Wellington.

PURSUANT to the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” I, William Thomas Wood, Mayor of the Borough of Palmerston North, in the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby give you notice that, on the 7th day of October, 1902, a poll of the burgesses of the said Borough of Palmerston North was taken, under the provisions of the said Act, and also under the provisions of “The Regulation of Local Elections Act, 1876,” on a proposal of the Council of the said borough to borrow a sum of £36,000 by way of special loan, for the purpose of carrying out a drainage scheme for the Borough of Palmerston North, under the provisions of the said Acts, a copy of which proposal is next hereinafter set out.

Borough of Palmerston North.—Loan for a Drainage Scheme.

The Palmerston North Borough Council propose to raise a loan for carrying out a drainage scheme for the Borough of Palmerston North. The sum proposed to be borrowed for such purpose is £36,000, and it is proposed to pledge as security for such loan the ordinary revenues of the borough. The provision made for the repayment of the said loan is a sinking fund of ½ per cent. per annum on the amount of the said loan. The interest and sinking fund on the said loan is secured by a rate of 1½d. in the pound on the unimproved value of the rateable property in the borough. The loan is to be paid off on 1st December, 1915.

And I also give you notice that the number of votes recorded upon the taking of the said poll for and against the said proposal was as follows: Number of votes for the proposal, 354; number of votes against the proposal, 83; majority in favour, 271.

Declaration.

In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and in the matter of a proposal by the Palmerston North Borough Council to borrow the sum of £36,000 for the purpose of carrying out a drainage scheme for the Borough of Palmerston North.

I, William Thomas Wood, of Palmerston North, in the Provincial District of Wellington, in the Colony of New Zealand, Mayor of the Borough of Palmerston North, do solemnly and sincerely declare as follows:—

  1. That all the proceedings as required by the above-named Acts to be taken towards obtaining the sanction of the burgesses of the said Borough of Palmerston North to a proposal of the said Council of the said borough to raise the sum of £36,000 by way of special loan, under the provisions of the said Acts, have been duly taken.

  2. That upon a poll of the said burgesses, taken on the said proposal on the 7th day of October, 1902, the said proposal was duly carried, within the meaning of the above-named Acts.

And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

Special Order made by the Upper Wangaehu Road Board.

THE following special order, made by the Upper Wangaehu Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

UPPER WANGAEHU ROAD BOARD.—SPECIAL ORDER NO. 1.

NOTICE is hereby given that the following resolution has been passed by the above Board:—

“That the Board, by special order, raise a loan of £125 under subsection (4) of section 14 of ‘The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,’ as a contribution towards the cost of erection of a bridge over the Wangaehu River to connect Small Grazing-run No. 4, Block 7, Mangawhero Survey District, with the Wangaehu Valley Road.”

I hereby certify that the foregoing special order was duly passed in accordance with section 75, “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” at a special meeting of the Upper Wangaehu Road Board held at Mangamahu on Saturday, 4th October, 1902.

UPPER WANGAEHU ROAD BOARD.—SPECIAL ORDER NO. 2.

NOTICE is hereby given that the following resolution has been passed by the above Board:—

“That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £125, authorised to be raised by the Upper Wangaehu Road Board, under the provisions of ‘The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,’ as a contribution towards the cost of erection of a bridge to connect Small Grazing-run 4, Block 7, Mangawhero Survey District, with the Wangaehu Valley Road, the said Upper Wangaehu Road Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1½d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Wharemata Special-rating District, comprising Small Grazing-run 4, Block 7, Mangawhero Survey District, and part Education Reserve 5, Block 10, Mangawhero Survey District (13 acres); and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of April and the 1st day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.”

I hereby certify that the foregoing special order was duly passed in accordance with section 75 of “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” at a special meeting of the Upper Wangaehu Road Board held at Mangamahu on Saturday, 4th October, 1902.
