paper of the 30th September and 2nd October, 1902, was

duly taken in the office of the Selwyn County Council,
Christchurch; the Malvern Road Board Office, Springfield;
the East Malvern Road Board Office, Sheffield; the Cour-
tenay Road Board Office, Kirwee; the Courthouse, Darfield;
and the Schoolhouse, Rolleston, on Saturday, the 4th day of
October, 1902, for the purpose of deciding by the vote of the
said ratepayers whether the proposal contained in the notice
published in the Press newspaper of the 21st and 28th
August and the 4th and 11th September, 1902, to borrow
from the Government of New Zealand a sum of £4,000 for
twenty-six years, at 4½ per cent. per annum, for the con-
struction of water-races in the said district, should be carried
into effect. And I hereby also give notice that the votes
recorded were as follows: Number of votes recorded in
favour of the proposal, 140; number of votes recorded
against the proposal, 9.

As the number of valid votes recorded in favour of the
proposal exceeds three-fifths of the total number of votes
recorded at the poll, I declare the said proposal carried.

HAWERA COUNTY COUNCIL.

SPECIAL ORDER making and levying Special Rate.—Hu
Road Load: Further Advance of 10 per cent.

THAT a special annual-recurring rate of ¼d. in the pound be
made over the following properties—viz., Sections 41, 42,
44, Block XI., Ngaiire, Subdivision 14 of Pukengahu Block
(129 acres), and the western half of Section 12, Block XII.,
Ngaiire—for the payment of interest and other charges on an
additional advance of 10 per cent. in respect of the loan of
£500 for metalling the Hu Road from the Rawhitiroa Road
northwards as far as funds will permit, which loan was
carried at a poll taken on 12th November, 1900; and that the
said special rate shall be payable, if required, yearly on the
15th day of October in each year.

I hereby certify that the resolution initiating the above
special order was adopted at a special meeting of the Council
held on Saturday, 5th July, 1902, and duly confirmed at a
meeting held on Saturday, 20th September, 1902.

THE following special order, made by the Mauriceville
County Council, is published in accordance with the
provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

SPECIAL ORDER made by the Mauriceville County Council.
—Loan of £400 for metalling Mount Bruce Road.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that
behalf by “The Counties Act, 1886,” and “The Local
Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Mauriceville County Council
hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other
charges on a loan of £400, authorised to be raised by the
Mauriceville County Council under the provisions of “The
Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the purpose of metalling
Mount Bruce Road, the said Mauriceville County Council
hereby makes and levies a special rate of ²³⁄₁₀₀d. in the pound
sterling upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property
of the Mount Bruce Road Metalling Loan Special-rating
District, comprising Sections 5, 7, 9, Block IV., Miki Miki
Survey District; Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11,
Block XIV., Tararua Survey District; Section 172, and
part Section 171 (about 111 acres, at present in the occupa-
tion of W. A. Miller), Block XIII., Mangaone Survey Dis-
trict; and that such special rate shall be an annually recur-
ring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable
half-yearly on the 1st day of February and the 1st day of
August in each and every year during the currency of such
loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is
paid off. This special order shall take effect upon confir-
mation.

I, Charles Churchill Jackson, Chairman of the Maurice-
ville County Council, do hereby certify that the above spe-
cial order was made and passed at a special meeting of
the Mauriceville County Council held on the 14th day of
August, 1902, and confirmed at a special meeting of the said
Council held on the 13th day of September, 1902, when the
common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants
of the County of Mauriceville was hereunto affixed, in the
presence of—

PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD.

Special Order.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in
that behalf by “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” and “The
Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Parihaka Road Board
hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of pro-
viding the interest and other charges on a loan of £3,000,
authorised to be raised by the Parihaka Road Board under
the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,”
for draining, forming, culverting, and metalling the Upper
Puniho Road from the Main South Road to the Carrington
Road, the Parihaka Road Board hereby makes and levies a
special rate of 2¾d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation
of all rateable property of the Upper Puniho Special-rating
District, comprising Sections 28, 29, 33, 34, and 24 (said
Section 24 to be charged half-rates only), Subdivisions 11
and 12 of Section 32, Subdivisions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and
9 of Section 7, Block V. (said Subdivision 9 to be charged
half-rates only), Sections 36 and 37, Subdivision 2 of Sec-
tion 35, and Subdivisions 1, 2, and 3 of Section 30,
Block IX., Subdivisions 13, 14, 15, 16 of Section 3, Sub-
divisions 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 of Section 4, and Subdivision 12
of Section 6, Block X., Cape Survey District; and that
such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during
the currency of such loan, and be payable on the 1st day of
January in each and every year during the currency of such
loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is
fully paid off. The interest on the said loan shall be at the
rate of 3½ per cent. per annum.

I hereby certify that the above special order was made at
a meeting of the Parihaka Road Board on Wednesday, 10th
September, 1902, and confirmed at a special meeting of the
said Board on Friday, 10th October, 1902, and was duly
made in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

the said Woodville County Council hereby makes and levies
a special rate of 1¼d. in the pound upon the rateable valua-
tion of all rateable property of the Pinfold Road Deviation
