SPECIAL ORDER.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Counties Act, 1886,” the Raglan County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £1,200, authorised to be raised by the Raglan County Council under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for erecting a bridge over the Opotoro Creek (£1,000), and for road leading thereto (£200), the said Raglan County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ⅞d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Opotoro Special-rating District, comprising—Commencing at the head of the tidal water of the Ohira Tidal Creek; thence westerly following high-water mark to Woody Head; thence southerly to the intersection of the southern boundary-line of Section 120; thence easterly along the southern boundary-lines of Sections 120, 118, and 27; thence northerly along eastern and southern boundary-lines of Sections 27, 31, 47, 46, 41, 42, 43, 54, 57, and Takapaunui N.R.; thence along eastern boundaries of said N.R. and Section 35 to point of commencement: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 2nd day of January and the 2nd day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

I hereby certify that the foregoing special order was duly made on the 10th July, 1902, and confirmed on the 27th August, 1902.

HOROWHENUA COUNTY COUNCIL.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.—Otaki Riding.

Result of poll of ratepayers of the Otaki Riding, taken on the 7th day of October, 1902, on the proposal to borrow £500, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the purpose of constructing a road on the eastern side of the railway-line, near Otaki Station:—

Number of valid votes recorded, 84: Number of valid votes recorded for the proposal, 36; number of valid votes recorded against the proposal, 48.

The number of valid votes recorded for the proposal being less than three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded, I hereby declare the proposal to be not carried.

HAWERA COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order making and levying Special Rate.—Wingrove Road Loan, £300.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Counties Act, 1886,” the Hawera County Council hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing interest and other charges on a loan of £300, authorised to be raised by the Hawera County Council under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the purpose of constructing the Wingrove Road from the Stratford County boundary to the southward as far as funds will permit, the said Hawera County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1¼d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property in that portion of the Eltham Riding of the Hawera County comprising Sections 22, 19, and the northern half of Section 18, and all being situate in Block 12, Ngaiere Survey District; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 15th day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully paid off; and that the interest on such loan is at the rate of 4½ per cent. per annum.

I hereby certify that the resolution initiating the above special order was adopted at a special meeting of the Council held on Saturday, 19th April, 1902, and duly confirmed at a meeting held on Saturday, 20th September, 1902.

That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £350, authorised to be raised by the Egmont Road Board under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for forming and metalling a part of the Paraita Road, in the County of Taranaki, the said Egmont Road Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Paraita Road Special-rating District, comprising—
