Special Order made by the Patangata County Council.

THE following special order, made by the Patangata County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

PATANGATA COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order making Special Rate.

In pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by sections 16 and 68 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” “The Counties Act, 1886,” and “The Rating Act, 1894,” the Patangata County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £1,200 (being an additional advance of 10 per centum on the Wallingford–Porangahau Road Loan of £12,000), authorised to be raised by the Patangata County Council under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the purpose of completing the construction of a road between the Township of Porangahau and the Oakbourne Station along the Porangahau River valley, and for completing the formation and metalling of the main road between Wanstead and Wallingford, the said Patangata County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ¼d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Wallingford–Porangahau Special-rating Area, comprising the whole of the Wallingford Road District and all that portion of the Porangahau Road District lying generally to the north of the line known as the Native land boundary—that is to say, a line commencing at the sea at the south-eastern corner of Arataura Block No. 2, and running generally towards the north-west to the south-western corner of Arataura Block No. 3, Block VII., Tautane Survey District; thence generally towards the north-west by a right line to the north-eastern corner of Section 2, Block XII., Weber Survey District; thence towards the north-west generally by a right line to the boundary of the Waipawa County at the south-western corner of Section 1, Block XV., Mangatoro Survey District: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable annually in one sum on the 1st day of December in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

The above special order was instituted at a special meeting held on 5th June, and confirmed on 4th September, 1902, by the Patangata County Council.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Whakatane County Council.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Whakatane County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

WHAKATANE COUNTY COUNCIL.

Proposed Loan of £2,300.

THE following is the result of the poll taken on the 28th day of August, 1902, on the proposal to borrow from the Government, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the sum of £2,300 for road formation and metalling within the county, and to levy an annually recurring special rate of ⅝d. in the pound within the proposed special-rating district as security for the loan, under subsection (c) of section 59 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901”:

Number of valid votes recorded in favour of proposal, 38; against, 25.

I therefore declare the proposal carried.

THE following special order, made by the Wairarapa South County Council, is published in accordance with “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order.—Loan of £500, Taratahi Water-race Works.

THAT, for the purpose of providing for the annual interest and charges upon a Government loan of £500 raised for the purpose of completing the Taratahi Water-race works (in addition to the existing loan of £5,000 already expended in the construction of the said works) this Council now do make a special rate of ¹⁄₂₀d. in the pound, to be payable in half-yearly instalments (in addition to the existing special rate of ¼d. in the pound on the aforesaid loan of £5,000) at the office of the Council at Carterton on the 1st day of January and July in each and every year during the currency of the loan, such rate to be an annually-recurring one for forty-one years, under the provisions of clause (c) of subsection (1) of section 59 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” upon the rateable values of all rateable properties within the Taratahi Water-race Special-rating District, established by special order passed 11th August, 1900, and confirmed 15th September, 1900 (being the same area as the Taratahi Water-race District, established by special order of the Council adopted on the 12th day of February, 1900, and confirmed on the 6th day of March, 1900).

I hereby certify that the foregoing special order has been duly adopted by the Council of the County of Wairarapa South at a special meeting of the Council held the 26th day of July, 1902, and has been duly confirmed at a meeting of the said Council held the 30th day of August, 1902; and, further, that all the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” in regard to the loan described in the said special order have been duly complied with.

In witness whereof the common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the Wairarapa South County has been hereunto affixed by the undersigned, this 2nd day of September, 1902.

Notice of the Laying-off of a Road through Land in Mangaorapa Block, Porangahau Survey District.

NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, under the authority of section 92 of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” that the road described in the Schedule hereto was duly taken and laid off through the land specified in the said Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of the said colony, by Warrant dated the 15th August, 1901.

SCHEDULE.

In the Land District of Hawke’s Bay: as the said area is delineated upon the plan marked and coloured as above mentioned, and deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District.

PURSUANT to the provisions of “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900,” I hereby notify that the undermentioned Crown land, being the land known as the Manga-a-toro Settlement, has been acquired under the said Act, and is subject to the said Act.
