Resolved, That this Council do make a special order altering the boundaries of the South Rakaia and Mount Hutt Road Districts, and such special order shall be as follows, that is to say,—
SPECIAL ORDER.
In compliance with the petition of the ratepayers of the South Rakaia Road District and of part of the Mount Hutt Road District, which has been presented to the Council, and in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon the Council by “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” “The Road Boards Act 1882 Amendment Act, 1883,” and of all other powers vested in it in that behalf, the County Council of the County of Ashburton doth hereby order and declare that the boundaries of the said road districts shall be altered, and that from and after the day upon which this special order shall be gazetted the boundaries of the said road districts shall be as follows, that is to say,—
The South Rakaia Road District.
All that area in the County of Ashburton which is bounded on the north-east by a line along the middle of the River Rakaia from a point opposite to the middle of the Barrhill-Lauriston Road to the ocean; thence on the south-east by the ocean; thence on the south-west by a line along the middle of the Chertsey boundary-road forming the north-eastern boundaries of Rural Sections Nos. 27247, 27248, 26910, 26909, 26495, 26494, 26635, 25910, 25840, 25770, 25769, 25646, 26534, 25996, and 24981, and Reserve 1771; thence by a right line being the continuation of the north-eastern boundary-line of that reserve; across a railway reserve to the Great South Road; thence again on the south-east by that road; thence again on the south-west by a line along the middle of the road passing through Reserve 2376 and that road continued to the westernmost corner of Rural Section No. 24262; thence again on the south-east by a right line to the southernmost corner of Rural Section No. 27032; thence again on the south-west by a line along the middle of the road forming the north-eastern boundary of Rural Section No. 27031, and that road continued to the northernmost corner of Rural Section No. 27394; thence again on the north-west by a line along the middle of the road forming the south-eastern boundary of Rural Section No. 27392; thence again on the south-west by Rural Sections Nos. 27392, 27969, 27970, 27985, 28020, 31252, 30505, 30504, and 30509; thence on the north by a line along the middle of a road forming the northern boundary of Section No. 31253 to its junction with the Barrhill-Lauriston Road at the southernmost corner of Rural Section No. 28277; thence north-easterly along the middle of that road to the commencing-point in the middle of the River Rakaia.
The Mount Hutt Road District.
All that area in the Provincial District of Canterbury which is bounded on the north-east by a line along the middle of the River Rakaia from Lake Stream to a point opposite the middle of the Barrhill-Lauriston Road; on the south-east by the South Rakaia Road District as above described; thence north-westerly and south-westerly by the Upper Ashburton Road District; thence again on the north-west from a point in the middle of the north branch of the River Ashburton opposite the north-western boundary of Rural Section No. 34165; thence again on the south-west by a line along the middle of that branch to the southernmost point of Run No. 119; thence on the south-east by a straight line south-westwards through Run No. 102 to the western boundary of that run; thence in a north-westerly, north-easterly, and again north-westerly direction through Run No. 115 to a point on the River Swin; thence north-westerly along that river; thence again north-westerly by a straight line through Runs Nos. 115 and 118 to the River Smite; thence in a north-easterly, north-westerly, and south-westerly direction through Run No. 118 to the eastern boundary of Run No. 117; thence following the eastern boundary of that run and Lake Stream to the commencing-point.
I, Frederick Mainwaring, Clerk of the Ashburton County Council, do hereby certify that the above special order, altering the boundaries of the South Rakaia and Mount Hutt Road Districts, has been duly made by the said Council.

THE following special order, made by the Manganui Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

MANGANUI ROAD BOARD.
Special Order.—Derby Road Loan of £300.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in them in that behalf by “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” the Manganui Road Board hereby resolve as follows: That, for the purpose of providing interest and other charges on a loan of £300, authorised to be raised by the Manganui Road Board under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the purpose of clearing, draining, forming, and culverting the Derby Road from the York Road to the Surrey Road, and of building a bridge over the Waipuku Stream, and paying out of such loan the cost of raising it, the said Manganui Road Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of 3¾d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all the rateable property in the Derby Road Special-rating District, comprising Sections 17, 18, 19, 20, 227, Block XVI., Egmont Survey District; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
I hereby certify that the above special order was instituted on Monday, the 4th August, 1902, and confirmed on Monday, the 8th September, 1902, and was duly made in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

RANGITIKEI COUNTY COUNCIL.
Special Order making Special Rate.
LOAN of £300, Marton Junction Township Roads and Portions of Golding’s and Wing’s Roads.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Counties Act, 1886,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Rangitikei County Council doth hereby resolve as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £300, authorised to be raised by the Rangitikei County Council, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the purpose of constructing the roads through the Marton Junction Township near the Marton Railway-station, and to widen about 10 chains, to construct about 10 chains, and to fence about 20 chains of Golding’s Road north of the railway-line, and to widen about 20 chains of the west end of Wing’s Road, the said Rangitikei County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1d. in the pound sterling upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Junction Special-rating District, comprising part Section 10, Rangitikei Agricultural Reserve, and part Block VI.A and part Block VII., Rangitikei District, containing in all 185 acres and 31 perches, and occupied by Mr. John Bagge, and Subdivision 13 of Block VII., Rangitikei District, containing 94 acres 1 rood 36 perches, and occupied by the Marton Jockey Club, the whole of the abovementioned lands being situate in Block III. of the Rangitoto Survey District; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable in one sum on the 1st day of May in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
I, John Willoughby Marshall, Chairman of the Rangitikei County Council, do hereby certify that the above special order was duly made and passed at a special meeting of the Rangitikei County Council held on the 2nd day of August, 1902, and was duly confirmed at a special meeting of the said Rangitikei County Council held on the 6th day of September, 1902. In testimony whereof the common seal of the Rangitikei County Council has been hereunto affixed.
