Volunteer Regulations cancelled and other Regulations substituted.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve that paragraphs 146, 147, 148, 149, and 150 of the Regulations of the Volunteer Force, 1895, be cancelled, and the following substituted in lieu thereof, and with effect from 27th July, 1902:—

MUSKETRY INSTRUCTION.

  1. Officers commanding corps will be held, under the Officer Commanding District, responsible for the training of their respective units in musketry.

  2. Musketry instruction and range practices in the annual course must be at all times carried out under the superintendence of an officer of the corps, assisted as far as practicable by a member of the permanent or district staff.

  3. To enable an officer or Volunteer to qualify for capitation he must fire the course of target practices approved for the year by the Commandant of the Forces. Officers, and non-commissioned officers of the rank of sergeant and upwards, are exempt from firing in the collective practices, but should command or supervise units during the execution of such practices.
