Rural Lands in the Otago Land District open for Sale or Selection.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the third day of November, one thousand nine hundred and two; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

A steep section, with good soil; aspect generally good; timber, red and black pine, kamai, and broadleaf. Situated on a fair road, about four miles from Owaka Railway-station. Valuation for improvements, £30.

Rough bush sections, with a westerly aspect; soil somewhat light; timber mostly kamai, with a little red-pine; well watered. Situated about three miles from Glenomaru Railway-station, and about four miles from a school and post-office. Valuations for improvements: On Section 27, £1 10s.; on Section 28, £26 16s.; on Section 30, £11 12s.

A steep bush section, with light soil; aspect not good; well watered. Situated about three miles from Glenomaru Railway-station. Valuation for improvements, £84.

A rough and broken bush section, with fair soil; well watered. Situated about six miles from Romahapa Railway-station.

A rough bush section, with fair soil; good aspect; well watered. Situated about seven miles from Glenomaru Railway-station. Valuation for improvements, £126.

These sections are situated at Kokonga, on the Otago Central Railway-line, the altitude being about 1,200 ft. above sea-level. The sections have a north-easterly aspect, and there is no permanent water. The soil is of medium quality, and portions can be cultivated. Valuations for improvements: On Sections 20 to 22 and part 23, £74 2s. 6d.; on Sections 26 and 27, £24 11s. 6d.

Rough broken land, with fair soil; well watered. Situated about four miles from Tuapeka Mouth and about sixteen miles from Lawrence. Valuation for improvements, £168.

This section is situated near Kokonga Railway-station, on the Otago Central line; the school and telegraph-office almost adjoin the section. The soil is of medium quality, and is nearly all ploughable. The section is well watered, and the altitude is about 1,200 ft. above sea-level. Valuation for improvements, £52 10s. 6d.

Open land of rather poor quality, a portion being gravelly; no permanent water. Situated about seventeen miles from Cromwell and about two miles from Tarras School. Valuation for improvements, £17 17s.

A level bush section of good quality; bush light and easily cleared; well watered. Situated about three miles from Papatowai Post-office. Valuation for improvements, £4 10s.

Good land, nearly level; access by good roads. Situated about half a mile from Patearoa Post-office.

Rough bush sections, with a good aspect; soil light; well watered; timber mostly kamai. Situated about seven miles from the proposed railway terminus and about two miles from a school. Valuations for improvements: On Section 7, £77 2s.; on Section 8, £45 15s.

Rough bush sections; fair aspect; good soil; well watered. Situated about ten miles from Owaka Railway-station. Valuation for improvements, £270.
