Rural Lands in the Taranaki Land District open for Sale or Selection.
RANFURLY, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the fifth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and two; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.

These sections comprise level, hilly, and undulating land of excellent quality, the soil resting upon papa formation, and well watered. The whole area is covered with mixed forest, and is well adapted for pastoral and agricultural pursuits. Situate about one mile and a quarter from Uruti and thirteen miles from Urenui by the New Plymouth–Mokau Main Road.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.

All rough pastoral land, covered with forest, consisting of rata, tawa, towai, &c., and usual undergrowth; the soil is good, resting upon a papa formation, and is well watered. Access from Urenui by Okoke and Piko Roads, the latter being formed as a horse-road to the junction of Mangapito Road, which is unformed.

All rough pastoral land, covered with mixed forest, the formation being papa, and the land well watered. Access from Waverley by Mataimoana Road, formed for dray traffic to within about two miles of the section; the remainder a good bridle-track.

All rough pastoral land of fair quality, covered with mixed forest; papa formation; well watered. Access at present from Waverley by Mataimoana Road, which is formed for dray traffic to within about two miles of said Section 2, Block XI., Opaku, thence by Nukuhau bridle-road to said Section 2, and thence across the Whenuakura River. The Whenuakura Valley Road when opened will give access to the section.

Notice of Intention to change the Purpose of a Reserve in the Marlborough Land District.
RANFURLY, Governor.
WHEREAS by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” it is, amongst other things, enacted that the Governor may declare his intention to make, change, exchange, or alter the dedication of any public reserve now or hereafter vested in His Majesty or the Governor for any of the purposes named in Class II. of the Schedule to the said Act, whether the same be granted or not; if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to change the purpose of such reserve or any part thereof from the purpose or presumed purpose for which it was set apart to any other purpose, or if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to exchange any of the land comprised in such reserve for other land of equal value, to be dedicated to one or more purposes named in the said Class II., the Governor may, by notice gazetted, declare his intention to make such change, exchange, or dedication, as the case may be, and in such notice declare the manner and terms in which the same is intended to be so made:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” aforesaid, declare my intention to change the specific purpose of the reserve described in the first column of the Schedule hereto from that named to the purpose named in the second column of the said Schedule respectively.
