That for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £75 authorised to be raised by the Ekatahuna County Council under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the formation and metalling of that part of Bright Street, in the Township of Parkville, Ekatahuna County, between Septimus Street and Cullen Street, the said Ekatahuna County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 3d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Bright Street Special Rating District, comprising Sections 117, 118, 119, 120, 121, 122, 135, 136, 137, 138, 139, 140, 141, 142, 129, 130, 131, 132, 133, 134, of Block V., Mangaone Survey District; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of February and the 1st day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off. The interest and other charges on the loan to be paid at the rate of 3½ per centum per annum. The cost of raising the loan and the first year’s interest to be paid out of the loan.
I hereby certify that the above special order was made by resolution at a special meeting of the Council held on Saturday, the 12th day of April, 1902, and confirmed at a special meeting held on Saturday, the 10th day of May, 1902.

MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.
THE following is a copy of a special order passed by the Manawatu County Council at a special meeting held on the 9th April, 1902, and confirmed by the Manawatu County Council at a special meeting held on the 14th May, 1902:—
“That in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by ‘The Counties Act, 1886,’ the Manawatu County Council hereby resolves as follows: That for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £900 authorised to be raised by the Manawatu County Council under the provisions of section 14, subsection (1), of ‘The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,’ for paying off liabilities for the construction of a tramway (the Sanson–Carnarvon Tramway Extension), the said Manawatu County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1½d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property within the County of Manawatu; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of June and the 1st day of December in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.”

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Onslow Borough Council has, by special order, declared Bathurst burr, broom, giant burdock, gorse, hakea, and ragwort to be noxious weeds within the meaning of “The Noxious Weeds Act, 1900,” in the district under its jurisdiction.

REFERRING to General Notice to Mariners, Victoria, dated 1st June, 1898, page 77, it is hereby notified that on or about the 7th May, 1902, it is intended that, in lieu of the present western buoy, the black beacon which marks the outer end of the reef to the eastward of Altona jetty shall be the western boundary-mark in connection with the rifle ranges, the present middle buoy being shifted to the westward, midway between the abovementioned beacon and the buoy marking the eastern boundary in connection with the rifle ranges.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA.—WEST COAST.
Fremantle Harbour.—North and South Mole Lights.
THE Government of Western Australia desire to give notice that the present lights shown from the extremities of the north and south moles, at the entrance of the river harbour, are in process of alteration, as follows:—
North Mole Light.
The present fixed white light will be altered to a dioptric fixed green light of the 4th order.
It will be displayed from a circular iron tower painted white, the height of focal plane above H.W. being 46 ft.
The light will be visible from seaward all round the horizon at a distance of twelve miles in clear weather.
South Mole Light.
The present 5th order occulting light will be altered to a dioptric white occulting light of the 4th order.
It will be also displayed from a circular iron tower, the height of focal plane above H.W. being 44 ft.
The total period will be five seconds, the duration of the light being three seconds, and the eclipse two seconds.
The dates of exhibition of the lights will be given in a future notice.
Charts affected: No. 1058, Rottnest to Warnbro’ Sound, and No. 1700, Fremantle Harbour and Gage Roads.

CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the authority in me for this purpose vested, I, the Commissioner of Trade and Customs, do, by this order under my hand, revoke and annul the appointment of the undermentioned warehouse for the reception and security of goods entered to be warehoused without payment of duty upon the first entry thereof, namely,—
