Approving and appointing a Bonding Warehouse.

CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the powers in me for this purpose vested by “The Customs Laws Consolidation Act, 1882,” I, the Commissioner of Trade and Customs, do hereby approve and appoint the undermentioned warehouse to be a warehouse for the reception of goods under bond, namely,—

Port of Wanganui.

A building constructed of wood and iron, with iron roof, situate on Section No. 55, fronting Taupo Quay, Town of Wanganui, to be known as

LEVIN AND CO.’S BOND.

Given under my hand, at Wellington, this thirteenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and two.

Notice to Local Authorities under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

The Treasury,
Wellington, 3rd April, 1902.

PURSUANT to section 63 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Colonial Treasurer hereby gives notice that on Monday, the 2nd June, 1902, he will be prepared to consider applications from local authorities for loans under this Act.

Applications should be addressed to the Colonial Treasurer, and must be posted so as to arrive at the Treasury on or before the 31st May, 1902.

Bonus for Plans for Cowshed.—Notice No. 703.

Department of Agriculture,
Wellington, 21st May, 1902.

IT is hereby notified that a first prize of twenty guineas and a second prize of ten guineas are offered by the Department for the best plan, with complete specification, of a cowshed suitable to house fifty cows, with fodder-sheds and dairy; also a first prize of seven guineas and a second prize of three guineas for the best plan and specification of a silo for the same number of cows: all plans and specifications, whether awarded a prize or not, to become the property of the Government.

Packages containing plans and specifications entered for these competitions should be addressed to the Secretary for Agriculture, Wellington, and marked outside “Cowshed Competition” or “Silo Competition,” as the case may be, and forwarded so as to reach him by the 31st August, 1902.

The plans must be signed with a nom de plume, and must bear no indication as to the competitor’s name; the competitor’s signature and nom de plume must, however, be forwarded in a sealed envelope in the same package with the plans.

Bonus for the Production of Quicksilver.

Mines Office,
Wellington, 7th June, 1900.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of fourpence (4d.) per pound will be paid on the production of the first one hundred thousand pounds weight (100,000 lb.) of good marketable retorted quicksilver, free from all impurities, from any mine in New Zealand, on the following conditions, that is to say:—

  1. That at least one-third of the quantity is produced on or before the 31st March, 1903, and the remaining two-thirds on or before the 31st March, 1904.

  2. No bonus will be payable until the whole of the one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced as stipulated to the satisfaction of an officer to be appointed by the Minister of Mines, and on whose certificate alone the bonus will be paid.

  3. In the event of more than one person producing the required quantities of quicksilver before the dates named, inquiry will be made by the officer above referred to, when, if it is found that each applicant is equally entitled to a bonus, the amount will be divided in proportion to the quantities produced by each applicant, but in no case shall any bonus be paid until at least one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced in the aggregate.

TENDERS FOR THE SUPPLY OF SATCHELS, VALISES, AND LEGGINGS.

General Post Office,
Wellington, 15th May, 1902.

TENDERS will be received at the General Post Office, Wellington, until THURSDAY, the 12th June, for the SUPPLY of Letter-carriers’ and Telegraph Messengers’ SATCHELS and LEGGINGS and Telegraph Linemen’s VALISES for the three years ending 31st May, 1905.

The approximate quantities required in each year will be 140 satchels and valises and 200 pairs of leggings.

Samples may be seen at the Chief Post-offices at Auckland, Christchurch, and Dunedin, and at the Post and Telegraph Store, Wellington.

The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

All tenders must be accompanied by one sample of each of the articles required. In the case of unsuccessful tenderers, the samples will be purchased by the Department.

Tenders should be addressed to “The Superintendent of Electric Lines, General Post Office, Wellington,” and indorsed “Tender for Satchels, &c.”

NOTICE is hereby given that, no person having taken out administration, the Public Trustee has filed in the office of the Supreme Court at Wellington an election to administer the several intestate estates of the persons deceased whose names, residences, and occupations, so far as known, are hereunder respectively set forth, their gross properties being estimated not to exceed £250 in each case.
