Citizens of the City of Dunedin, hereby applies for a license for a water-race as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.
Date and number of miner’s right: 29th October, 1901; No. 18420.

SCHEDULE.

Locality of the race, and of its starting and terminal points: The race commences on the Lee Stream, at a dam-site applied for by applicant, 40 chains above its junction with Fortification Creek, and traverses Section 185a and Section 8, Block X.; Section 5, Block XI.; Sections 15 and 16, Block VI.; road reserve; Sections 6 and 7, Block XI., Mount Hyde District; and Sections 4 and 6, Block XVI., Maungatua District; and terminates in said Section 6, on the Taieri River, 5 chains from its junction with the Lee Stream.

Subsidiary races, as described below, are also applied for under contemporaneous applications Nos. 3, 4, and 5, which the applicant repeats herein as follows:—
(a.) Fortification Creek, passing through Section 8, Block X., Mount Hyde District, 4 chains in length.
(b.) Sandy’s Creek, passing through Section 5, Block XI., Mount Hyde District, 5 chains in length.
(c.) Boyd’s Creek, passing through Section 16, Block VI., Mount Hyde District, 5 chains in length.
(The race applied for is to alter and extend the course of the race granted under License No. 11, W.R., to applicant.)

Length and intended course of race: Seven miles, more or less, along left bank of Lee Stream, with a subsidiary race or intake of 4 chains and two of 5 chains length, extending from several points of intake to the main race.

Points of intake: Principal intake, 40 chains above the junction of Fortification Creek with the Lee Stream; and subsidiary points of intake—(a) at a small dam on Fortification Creek, 4 chains from Lee Stream; (b) on Sandy’s Creek, 5 chains from Lee Stream; (c) on Boyd’s Creek, 5 chains from Lee Stream.

Estimated time and cost of construction: Eighteen months; £14,000.

Mean depth and breadth: 4 ft. 6 in. by 5 ft.

Number of heads to be diverted: Forty.

Purpose for which water is to be used: Generating electricity for transmission of power and electric lighting.

Proposed term of license: Forty-two years.

PURSUANT to “The Mining Act, 1898,” the undersigned, the Corporation of the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Dunedin, hereby applies for a license for a special site, as specified in the Schedule hereto, in respect of the land therein referred to, which has been duly marked out for the purpose.
Date and number of miner’s right: 29th October, 1901; No. 18420.

Locality where special site is situate, with its boundaries, measurements, and area: Special site situated on road reserve, being Section 6, Block XVI., Maungatua District. On Taieri River, distant 5 chains from junction of Lee Stream with Taieri River; containing about 3 acres.

Purpose for which special site is to be used: Electric-power station.

Claim in connection with which the special site is to be used: Water-race applied for by applicant.

Proposed term of license: Forty-two years.
