wholly paid for when the lease or license is issued, then the
value remaining unpaid shall be added to the capital value
of the land, and 4 per cent. or 5 per cent. per annum
thereon be added to the rent, according to the tenure, as the
case may be. Buildings of the value of £40 or over shall be
insured against loss or damage by fire in the name of the
King to the full amount of the advance in some fire-insur-
ance office carrying on business in New Zealand to be ap-
proved by the Commissioner. This regulation shall not be
acted upon without the special authority of the Minister of
Lands, but, subject thereto, shall be applicable to lands
already taken up under the regulations made under the
said Act.

Extending the Boundaries of the Rodney County Kauri-gum District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-
first day of February, 1902.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE J. CARROLL PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by “The Kauri-gum Industry Act, 1898,”
it is enacted that the Governor may from time to
time, by Order in Council gazetted, divide the North Island
of New Zealand, or any portion thereof, into such districts
as he thinks fit:

And whereas by an Order in Council of the nineteenth
day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-
eight, published in the Gazette of the twentieth day of De-
cember, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, the
Rodney County Kauri-gum District was, inter alia, consti-
tuted: And whereas it is desirable that the said district
should be extended by including the Great Barrier Island
within the said district:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of
the power and authority conferred upon me by the said
Act, do hereby amend the aforesaid Order in Council in so
far as it relates to the Rodney County Kauri-gum District,
and do hereby declare that, for the purposes of the said Act,
the boundaries of the Rodney County Kauri-gum District
shall, as from the date of the gazetting hereof, be all that
area being the County of Rodney as at present constituted,
together with all that area known as the Great Barrier
Island, and that such district shall thenceforth be known as
“the Rodney County Kauri-gum District.”

Increasing the Holding-area of Land to Settlers in the Mangamahu Village Settlement, Wellington.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-
first day of February, 1902.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE J. CARROLL PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by an Order in Council issued on the
fourth day of December, one thousand eight hun-
dred and ninety-three, under the authority of the one-
hundred-and-sixty-ninth section of “The Land Act, 1892,”
fixing the terms and conditions upon which certain village-
settlement lands therein enumerated should be disposed of,
it was provided that no lessee should hold more than one
allotment in the Mangamahu Village Settlement:

And whereas it is expedient to allow one person to hold
more than one allotment in the Mangamahu Village Settle-
ment, provided that the total area acquired does not exceed
fifty acres:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in pur-
suance of all powers and authorities enabling him in that
behalf, and by and with the advice and consent of the Exe-
cutive Council of the Colony of New Zealand, doth hereby
amend the Order in Council aforesaid so far as it affects the
areas in which the land in the Mangamahu Village Settle-
ment shall be held, and doth by this present Order declare
that on and after the date hereof any settler may apply
for and acquire land therein of an area not exceeding
fifty acres in extent in the whole. And it is hereby fur-
ther declared that all the provisions of the Order in Coun-
cil of the fourth day of December, one thousand eight
hundred and ninety-three, aforesaid, shall apply, except as
regards the area in which the sections may be held, to
the Mangamahu Village Settlement aforesaid.

Land taken for a Public School in Waihua Survey District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this tenth
day of February, 1902.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE SIR J. G. WARD PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto
is required to be taken, under “The Public Works
Act, 1894,” for a certain public work, to wit, a public school:
And whereas the Native owners of the said land have
agreed to make a free gift thereof to the Education Board of
the District of Hawke’s Bay for the site of the said school,
and it has been made to appear that such agreement is
sufficient for the purposes intended to be effected thereby:

And whereas by an order of the Native Land Court, made
under the provisions of subsection ten of section fourteen
of “The Native Land Court Act, 1894,” bearing date the
fifteenth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and
ninety-nine, certain aboriginal natives, as in the said order
mentioned, were declared to be the owners of the portion of
the Waipapa Block within which the said land is situated:

And whereas, as required by the said Act, a map has
been prepared and signed showing accurately the position
and extent of the said land, and such map is hereto attached,
and the Minister for Public Works has recommended that
this Order in Council should be issued:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the
powers and authorities conferred by “The Public Works
Act, 1894,” and acting by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby
order and declare that the land shown upon the said map
and mentioned in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for
the purposes of a public school, and is vested in the Educa-
tion Board of the District of Hawke’s Bay: And it is
hereby declared that this Order in Council shall take effect
on the fifteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred
and two.


SCHEDULE.

MOHAKA SCHOOL SITE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land, situated in Block XIII.,
Waihua Survey District, Wairoa County, Hawke’s Bay Pro-
vincial District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres and
2 perches, being part of the Waipapa Block. Bounded on
the north by other part of the Waipapa Block, 421·2 links;
on the east by other part of the Waipapa Block, 485 links;
on the south-east by other part of the Waipapa Block,
146·2 links; on the south by other part of the Waipapa
Block, 554 links; and on the west by a public road,
208·8 links: as the same is more particularly delineated on
the plan marked 1901/2173–243, deposited in the office of
the Minister of Education, at Wellington, in the Provincial
District of Wellington, and thereon outlined in red.

Notifying Land in Taranaki for Sale by Public Auction.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred
upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirteenth section
of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of
Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby appoint Monday, the seventh day of April, one
thousand nine hundred and two, as the time at which
the land enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be sold
by public auction; and I do hereby fix the price at which
the said land shall be sold as that mentioned in the said
Schedule hereto.
