KWANTUNG PENIN.—TERMINAL HEAD.—A dangerous submerged pinnacle rk., about 12 ft. in diam., steep-to, having a depth of 5 fms. about 10 yds. from it, lies in approx. 39° 10½' N., 122° 13' E., with Terminal Head S. 61°W., 2 miles. A red spar buoy has been temp. moored in 18 ft. on the nrn. side of the rk. Jan.

HEONG SAN BAY.—A rk. carrying 3½ fms. is reported to lie in approx. 24° 46' N., 120° 53' E., off Kōzan Kō. Jan.

GEELVINK BAY.—JENDEE ROAD.—A reef carrying 3¾ fms. lies in approx. 2° 19' S., 134° 30¼' E., in Jendee Road, Ron Isl., with the ern. pt. of Rariou Isl. N. 22° E., 14 cables, and the wnr. pt. of the same isl. N. 17° W. Jan.
NEW IRELAND.—NUSA HARB. AND APPROACH.—A shoal carrying 2½ fms. is reported to exist in approx. 2° 40' S., 150° 44½' E., in the approach to Nusa Harb. on the leading-line into the harb., with Hausanle, E., 1½ miles. Several soundings of 3½ fms. were obtained in the fairway, where a depth of 12 fms. is shown on the Admiralty chart. The leading-beacons situated about 7 cables S. 80° E. from the obser. spot (approx. 2° 34¼' S., 150° 47' E.), and the white buoy moored about 8 cables S. 26° E. from the same spot, are no longer maintained. Duke of York Island.
There are several coral heads carrying 16 to 24 ft. in the ern. approach to Meoko Harb. (approx. 4° 12' S., 152° 28' E.), and several carrying 17 ft. in the n.-wrn. approach; vessels, therefore, of over 15 ft. draught should not enter the harb. until these shoals are marked by buoys. Dec.

Settlement of Claims for Compensation under "The Mining Act, 1891."

In pursuance of the provisions of the 153rd section of "The Mining Act, 1891," it is hereby notified that the claims for compensation enumerated in the Schedule hereto, in respect to a Proclamation issued under the hand of His Excellency the Governor and the Public Seal of the Colony on the 26th day of July, 1900, declaring that the Waipori River, with its tributaries, in the Land District of Otago, shall be watercourses into which tailings, &c., may be discharged, have been settled by agreement, as provided by the said Act.

THE following special orders, made by the Wirokino Road Board, are published in accordance with the provisions of "The Road Boards Act, 1882."

SPECIAL ORDER.
THAT this Board now make a special rate of 3½d. in the pound on the rateable value of the following properties—viz., Ohinekakaea No. 1, Opaekete Nos. 1 to 6, Otawhiwhi A, B, and C, Paiaka, Manawatu-Kukutauaki 7F, 7G, part Subdivision No. 2 Manawatu-Kukutauaki No. 3 (being that part which lies to the west of the railway-line), Blocks X. and XIV., Mount Robinson Survey District; all inclusive; the above-mentioned sections constituting the Paiaka Special Rating District—to provide for interest and other annual charges on a loan of £500 to be raised under "The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886," for the purpose of metalling Paiaka Road from Kereru-Foxton Road to Mr. Gardner's flax-mill gate; such rate to be an annual-recurring rate for forty-one years, to become due and payable in one instalment on the 1st day of June in each and every succeeding year.
I hereby certify that the foregoing special order by the Wirokino Road Board was duly adopted at an ordinary meeting held on the 21st day of December, 1901, confirmed at a special meeting on the 15th day of February, 1902, and was made in accordance with the provisions of "The Road Boards Act, 1882."

I hereby certify that the foregoing special order by the Wirokino Road Board was duly adopted at an ordinary meeting held on the 21st day of December, 1901, confirmed at a special meeting on the 15th day of February, 1902, and was made in accordance with the provisions of "The Road Boards Act, 1882."

Notice is hereby given that at a meeting held in the Harrisville School on Saturday, 19th October, 1901, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886,” and “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” the Pukekohe East Road Board resolved as follows:
“ That, for the purpose of providing interest at the rate of 3½ per cent. per annum and other charges on a loan of £4,000 authorised to be raised by Pukekohe East Road Board under the provisions of ‘The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,’ for the construction of roads, the said Pukekohe East Road Board does hereby make and levy a special rate of 3½d. upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Pukekohe East Road District, comprising the whole of the district, and
