RESULT OF POLL FOR PROPOSED LOAN, REEFTON IRRIGATION DISTRICT, COUNTY OF INANGAHUA.
THE following is the result of a poll of the ratepayers of the Reefton Irrigation District, taken on the 1st day of October, 1901, on the proposal to borrow £2,000 for a period of forty-one years at 3½ per cent. per annum, under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and amendments thereof, for the purpose of extending the main water-pipes within the Town of Reefton:—

The number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal being more than three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded, I therefore declare the proposal carried.

THE following special order, made by the Mount Eden Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER made by the Mount Eden Road Board, County of Eden.
RESOLVED, That a special order be now made making a special rate of ½d. in the pound on the rateable values of all properties within the boundaries of the No. 2 Special Water District, hereinafter described, for the purpose of providing interest and sinking fund on a loan of £5,000, to provide a water-supply for the said district; such rate to be levied under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” and “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and amendments thereto, and to be an annually recurring rate, leviable, if required, on the 1st day of April, 1902, and on the same day of each year following until the loan in respect of which the said rate is made is paid off; such rate to be for a term of twenty-six years, and the interest to be paid on loan at the rate of 4½ per cent. per annum, as provided by subsection (1), section 2, of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act Amendment Act, 1899.”
Boundaries of the No. 2 Special Water District, viz.: That portion of the Mount Eden Road District commencing at the north-west corner of Lot 135; thence along the dividing-line between the Mount Eden and Mount Albert Districts to the corner of Lot 130; thence along the southern boundary of Lot 130 to the Mount Roskill Road extension; thence along the southern boundary of Lot 108; thence south and east along the southern boundary of Lot 98 to Three Kings Road; thence north to Epsom and Mount Albert Road, and along that road to the eastern boundary between the Mount Eden and Epsom Road Districts; thence northward on dividing-line between the Epsom and Mount Eden Districts to the southern boundary of Lot 49; thence westward to the Mount Eden Road, and along the dividing-line between Lot 6 and Lot 103 to Section 53 of Mr. Derrett’s, and northward along the same to Grange Road; thence north from western angle of Lot 40 to the eastern angle of Lot 45; thence westward along the boundary of Lots 45 and 46 to Prospect Terrace; thence by that road to Mount Roskill Road; and thence to the dividing-line between Lots 136 and 135 to the north-west corner of Lot 135, Bellwood.
I hereby certify that the foregoing special order was resolved upon at a meeting of the Board on the 20th August, 1901, and confirmed at a special meeting of the Board on the 23rd September, 1901, and made in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

Examination for Mine-managers’ and Battery-superintendents’ Certificates.

AN examination of candidates for certificates as First- and Second-class Mine-managers and Battery-superintendents under “The Mining Act, 1898,” and First- and Second-class Mine-managers under “The Coal-mines Act, 1891,” will be held on Tuesday, the 28th January, 1902, and three following days, at places to be hereafter named. All applications, with necessary certificates, and fee of £1, must be addressed to “The Secretary of the Board of Examiners under the Mining Act or Coal-mines Act, Wellington,” and must be received before the 16th December, or they will not be dealt with until the following examination. Forms of application may be obtained at Schools of Mines, Thames, Waihi, and Coromandel, also from Inspector of Mines, Thames, Westport, and Dunedin.
