Notice of Cancellation of Registry under “The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1900.”

Commissioner’s Decisions under Tariff Acts.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Hon. the Commissioner of Trade and Customs has decided to interpret the Customs and Excise Duties Acts in relation to the under-mentioned articles as follows:—

NOTE.—“Not otherwise enumerated” appears as n.o.e.; “other kinds” as o.k.; “articles and materials suited only for, and to be used solely in, the fabrication of goods in the colony” as a. & m.s. Articles marked thus * are revised decisions.

Bonus for the Production of Quicksilver.

Mines Office,
Wellington, 7th June, 1900.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of fourpence (4d.) per pound will be paid on the production of the first one hundred thousand pounds weight (100,000 lb.) of good marketable retorted quicksilver, free from all impurities, from any mine in New Zealand, on the following conditions, that is to say:—

  1. That at least one-third of the quantity is produced on or before the 31st March, 1903, and the remaining two-thirds on or before the 31st March, 1904.
  2. No bonus will be payable until the whole of the one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced as stipulated to the satisfaction of an officer to be appointed by the Minister of Mines, and on whose certificate alone the bonus will be paid.
  3. In the event of more than one person producing the required quantities of quicksilver before the dates named, inquiry will be made by the officer above referred to, when, if it is found that each applicant is equally entitled to a bonus, the amount will be divided in proportion to the quantities produced by each applicant, but in no case shall any bonus be paid until at least one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced in the aggregate.

Notice of the Laying-off of Roads through Native Land in Ngapaeruru No. 10, Ngapaeruru No. 7b, and Otanga Blocks, Block X., Mangatoro Survey District.

NOTICE is hereby given that roads were, on the 12th July, 1898, and 30th January and 11th September, 1899, surveyed and laid off under my direction over the Native land mentioned in the Schedule hereto; and that, in terms of section 72 of “The Native Land Court Act, 1894,” and the amendments thereof, the sites of such roads shall be deemed to be roads dedicated to the public, and shall vest in His Majesty.

THE St. Patrick’s Lodge, situated at Waikouaiti, is registered as a branch of the Grand Lodge of Otago and Southland District, New Zealand, of the United Ancient Order of Druids Friendly Society, under “The Friendly Societies Act, 1882,” this 7th day of October, 1901.

Notice by the Public Trustee under “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

To the owner or owners of a parcel of land, containing 40 acres, more or less, being western portion of Allotment 70, Parish of Kaeo, in the Provincial District of Auckland. The Crown grantee is Thomas Cooper, described as being of Tauranga, military settler.

WHEREAS the Public Trustee has instituted inquiries, and has not thereby ascertained who the owner or owners of the above-described land is or are, and believes that such owner is, or owners are, not in the colony:
Now, this notice calls upon such owner or owners, within six months of the date of the publication of this notice in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his or their title to the land specified in this notice; and, if such owner does or owners do not, within the time limited, so establish his or their title, the Public Trustee will exercise the powers and authorities granted to him in and by “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

Civil Service Senior Examination.

NOTICE is hereby given that, for the Civil Service Senior Examination of January, 1902, candidates may read “The Tempest” as an alternative to “King Lear,” one of the special books already prescribed for the examination. The examination papers will contain alternative questions on these two plays, in addition to questions on the other work set.
