Commission on Colonial Scale of Staff and Salaries of Public-school Teachers.

THE following supplementary Commission, extending the time within which the Commission appointed to inquire into the establishment of a uniform scale of staff and salaries for schools maintained under “The Education Act, 1877,” shall report its proceedings, is published for general information.

WHEREAS by Commission under my hand dated the ninth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and one, you were required within forty days from the date thereof to report to me upon a system of establishing a uniform scale of staff and salaries of school teachers in the colony:
And whereas by Commission under my hand dated the eighteenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and one, the time at or before which you were to present to me your report as aforesaid was extended to the eighteenth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and one:
And whereas it has been represented that in order to enable you the more properly to fulfil the duties intrusted to you it is expedient to further extend the period within which you are required to report your proceedings touching the said premises:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of all powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony, do hereby declare and appoint that, notwithstanding anything in the said Commissions contained, the time at or before which you shall present to me your report as aforesaid is hereby further extended to the eighteenth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and one, until which date, or until such earlier date as you shall be able to conclude your labours, all the rights, privileges, and powers in the said Commission contained shall be and remain in full force and effect.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this fifteenth day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and one.

Notification of Resignation of Seat in the House of Representatives for Electoral District of City of Christchurch.
IN compliance with the provisions of the one-hundred-and-thirty-fifth section of “The Electoral Act, 1893,” I, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, hereby notify that
CHARLES LEWIS, Esq.,
has resigned his seat in the House of Representatives for the Electoral District of City of Christchurch, and that the said seat is vacant by reason of such resignation.

Requisition as to taking Land compulsorily under “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900.”
NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended, on behalf of His Majesty, to take compulsorily, under the provisions of “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900,” the land whose acreage, description, and classification, as also the name and address of whose owner, is specified in the Schedule hereto; and every owner of the land, and also every other person having any estate or interest therein, are hereby required to serve their respective claims for compensation on the Minister of Lands in the form and manner and within the period provided by the said Act.
SCHEDULE.
H. DIEDRICH’S LAND.
- ALL that area in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 3,922 acres, more or less, being Sections Nos. 1611, 1561, 2015, 2138, 721, 2137, 809, 810, and 719, Toaroha Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west generally by the north-western boundary-line of Section No. 809 from the road along the north-eastern side of the Hokitika River to the road forming the south-eastern boundary of the said Section No. 809; thence by that road to the road forming the north-western boundary of Section No. 1611; thence by that road to the road forming the north-eastern boundary of said Section No. 1611; thence by that road to the road forming the north-western boundary of Section No. 2015; thence by that road to the road forming the north-eastern boundary of said Section No. 2015; thence by that road and Crown land to the road forming the north-western boundary of Section No. 721; thence by that road to the northernmost corner of the said Section No. 721: thence towards the north-east by the road forming the north-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 721 and 2137 to the easternmost corner of the latter section: thence towards the east generally by the eastern boundary-line of said Section No. 2137, a public road, part of the eastern boundary-line of Section No. 2015, and the eastern boundary-lines of Sections Nos. 2138 and 810 to the road forming the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 1561; thence by that road, and the road forming the south-eastern boundary of that section to Section No. 719; thence by the north-eastern, south-eastern, and south-western boundary-lines of the said Section No. 719 to the road forming the south-eastern boundary of Section No. 1561; thence by that road to the road along the north-eastern side of the Hokitika River: and thence towards the south-west by that road to the place of commencement.
Also all that area in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 861 acres, more or less, being Sections Nos. 2006, 2145, 2146, 2157, 2158, and parts of Sections Nos. 1917, 1919, 1920, and 2014, Kanieri Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east generally by the north-eastern boundary-line of Section No. 2146 from the road along the north-eastern side of the Kokatahi River to the road forming the north-western boundary of Section No. 2145; thence by that road, and to Base Line Reserve; thence by that reserve to the north-western boundary-line of Section No. 2006; thence by part of the north-western boundary-line and by the north-eastern boundary-line of that section to the road forming the north-western boundary of Section No. 1917; thence by that road to the northernmost corner of the said Section No. 1917; and thence by part of the north-eastern boundary-line of that section: thence towards the east generally by parts of Sections Nos. 1917, 1919, 1920, and 2014, by Section No. 1848, and again by another part of Section No. 2014 to the road along the north-eastern side of the Kokatahi River: and thence towards the south-west by that road to the place of commencement.
Also all that area in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 180 acres, more or less, being Sections Nos. 2091, 2171, and 812, Kanieri Survey District.
