Rural Land in the Wellington Land District open for Sale or Selection.
RANFURLY, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural land enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the fourteenth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and one; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

This section is situated on the Akaroa and Waikaka Road. The access is from Pongaroa, which is about seven miles distant via the Alfredton-Weber Road, about two miles (this road is formed for dray traffic), and the Akaroa Road, about four miles of which is formed 6 ft. wide, and two miles cleared and open for horse traffic. The section comprises, generally speaking, hilly forest and manuka land, with small area of flat; the soil is of medium quality, resting on papa formation; the forest is light, comprising mostly manuka scrub, with some bush towards the northern boundaries, with light undergrowth. The section is watered by a permanent stream in the north-east corner.

Rural Land in the Nelson Land District open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.
RANFURLY, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on and after the thirteenth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and one; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may be selected on lease in perpetuity only, in accordance with the provisions of section one hundred and twenty-one of the said Act, as it contains, or is supposed to contain, metals, minerals, or valuable stone; and I do hereby also fix the price at which the said land shall be leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”
SCHEDULE.
NELSON LAND DISTRICT.
Second-class Unsurveyed Land.
ALL that block of land in the Nelson Land District, containing 4,350 acres, more or less, situated in Blocks II. and IV., Waitapu Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east generally by the surveyed sections in Blocks II. and IV. from the Anakaka River to the Pariwha-kaho River; towards the south-east by the Pariwha-kaho River; towards the south by Crown land; and towards the west generally by the Anakaka River.
Annual rental, 3·6d. per acre per annum.
The above block is hilly and covered with forest, chiefly brown and red birch, with rimu and pukatea in gullies; thick under scrub. Formation, limestone and slate. Access by branch roads from the Collingwood-Takaka Inland Road, distant eight miles from the Town of Collingwood and nine miles from the Port of Waitapu.
