NOTICE is hereby given that it is the intention of the Portobello Road Board to take, for the purpose of a public road, part of Sections 4, 5, 6, 23, and 68, Block II., Portobello Survey District.
The plans showing the above road can be seen at the Post-office, Broad Bay; and all persons affected thereby must set forth in writing any well-grounded objections to the taking of such lands or the execution of such works, and must send objections in writing, within forty days from the first publication hereof, to the Chairman of the Portobello Road Board.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.
In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and the several Acts amending the same, “The Wellington City Empowering Act, 1897,” “The Wellington City Empowering Act, 1899,” and “The Public Works Act, 1894.”
NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the City of Wellington proposes, under the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts, to execute a certain public work—namely, the widening of Riddiford Street so as to make it sixty-six feet wide; and also proposes, under the like provisions, to take, under “The Public Works Act, 1894,” the lands described in the Schedule hereto. And notice is hereby further given that a plan showing the lands required to be taken, together with the names of the owners and occupiers of such lands, so far as they can be ascertained, is deposited in the public office of the City Engineer to the said Council, situate at the corner of Featherston Street and Panama Street, in the said city, and is open for public inspection without fee by all persons during ordinary office hours; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said lands shall, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such lands, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing within forty (40) days from the first publication of this notice to the said City Council, addressed to the Town Clerk at the offices of such Council, situate in Brandon Street, in the same city.

IN compliance with the provisions in this behalf of “The Foreign Companies Act, 1884,” notice is hereby given that MICHAEL GEORGE PHELAN, of Wellington, has been appointed the Attorney of the Canada Cycle and Motor Cycle Company (Limited) for all purposes connected with the business in New Zealand of the said company (save and except the branch thereof known as the “Massey-Harris Bicycle Department”), and that GODFREY WILLIAM MAGNUS, of Dunedin, has in like manner been appointed the Attorney of the said company for all purposes connected with the business in New Zealand of the said company (save and except the branch thereof known as the “Red Bird Bicycle Department”). And notice is also hereby given that, for the purposes of each branch of the said company’s business under the control of the said Michael George Phelan, the said company has an office or place of business in Victoria Street, in the City of Wellington; and for the purposes of each branch of the said company’s business under the control of the said Godfrey William Magnus, the said company has an office or place of business in George Street, in the City of Dunedin.

SOUTH PACIFIC LOAN AND INVESTMENT COMPANY (LIMITED).
NOTICE is hereby given that at a general meeting of the above-named company, duly convened, and held on the 6th day of December, 1900, the following resolution was passed — namely, “That this company be wound up voluntarily, and that William Henry Cook, of Wellington, Secretary to the company, be and he is hereby appointed Liquidator for the purpose of such winding-up; and that, this meeting being of the opinion that for the beneficial winding-up of the company the business should be carried on during the course of such winding-up under the control of the directors and the Liquidator, the company hereby sanctions and authorises the directors to continue to exercise all their present powers for the purpose of carrying on its business during the winding-up”; and that at a general meeting of the said company, duly convened, and held on the 21st day of December, 1900, the said resolution was duly confirmed in accordance with the provisions of section 86 of “The Companies Act, 1882.”
