A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by section thirteen of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do by this notice hereby proclaim as closed the roads in the Tautane Survey District hereinafter described.

Vesting Control of the Bridge and Approaches thereto across the Mouth of Anderson’s Bay, Otago Harbour, in the Portobello Road Board, and apportioning the Cost of Maintenance.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section one hundred and fourteen of “The Public Works Act, 1894” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may, by Proclamation publicly notified, direct that any bridge already constructed, or which may hereafter be constructed, over or across any river or arm of the sea shall, from and after a date to be fixed in such Proclamation, be under the exclusive care, control, and management of such local authority as shall be mentioned in that behalf in such Proclamation; and may by any such Proclamation as aforesaid fix and determine whether all or any, and, if so, what part, of the cost, whether theretofore incurred or thereafter to be incurred, of maintaining, repairing, improving, or reconstructing any such bridge, is to be provided and paid by any local authority, and, if so, by what local authority; and may by any such Proclamation as aforesaid direct how, and when, and to whom any such payment is to be made:

And whereas it is expedient to make provision under the hereinbefore-in-part-recited Act for the purposes hereinafter mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and direct that the said work described in the Schedule hereto, and known as the “bridge and approaches thereto across the mouth of Anderson’s Bay, Otago Harbour,” shall, from and after the date of this Proclamation, be under the exclusive care, and control, and management of the Portobello Road Board; and in further pursuance of the aforesaid powers and authorities I do hereby fix and determine that the cost of maintaining, repairing, improving, or reconstructing the said bridge shall be borne by the Portobello Road Board.


SCHEDULE.

That bridge across the mouth of Anderson’s Bay, in Otago Harbour, with the approaches thereto (the bridge and approaches together aggregating in length about 1896 links), being part of the road known as the Portobello Beach Road, and shown upon the plan marked S.G. 36360, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red.

New County of Masterton divided into Ridings, &c.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Counties Act, 1886,” and “The Masterton County Act, 1900,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby divide the new County of Masterton, as constituted by the said Acts, into six ridings, to be called the Alfredton Riding, the Upper Taueru Riding, the Rangitumau Riding, the Wainuioru Riding, the Opaki Riding, and the Te Whiti Riding, and declare that the boundaries thereof shall be those set forth under the names of the said ridings respectively in the Schedule hereto:

And I do hereby declare that two members shall be elected for the Alfredton Riding, one member for the Upper Taueru Riding, one member for the Rangitumau Riding, two members for the Wainuioru Riding, two members for the Opaki Riding, and one member for the Te Whiti Riding:

And I do further declare that Saturday, the ninth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and one, shall be the day upon which the election of the first Council of the said County of Masterton shall take place, and that Thursday, the fourteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and one, at eleven o’clock in the forenoon, shall be the time, and the Wairarapa North County Offices, Masterton, shall be the place, at which the first meeting of the said Council shall be held.
