SCHEDULE.
COUNTY OF MASTER TON.—RIDINGS.

Alfredton Riding.

Bounded towards the north-east generally by the County of
Akitio from the summit of the Puketoi Range to the County
of Castlepoint: thence towards the south-east generally by
the said County of Castlepoint to the Tauru River; thence
by that river to the southern boundary-line of Section
No. 149, in Block II., Mangapakeha Survey District: thence
towards the south generally by the southern and western
boundary-lines of the said Section No. 149 and the western
boundary-line of Section No. 148 to the northernmost corner
of that section; thence by a right line to the easternmost
corner of Section No. 26, in Block I., Mangapakeha Survey
District; thence by Sections Nos. 26, 25, 24, 23, and 22, in
Block I. aforesaid, to the southernmost corner of Section
No. 16, Block IV., Kopuaranga Survey District: thence
towards the south-west generally by the County of Maurice-
ville to the County of Eketahuna: and thence towards the
north-west generally by the Counties of Eketahuna and
Pahiatua respectively to the place of commencement.

Upper Tauru Riding.

Bounded towards the north generally by the Alfredton
Riding hereinbefore described: towards the south-east
generally by the County of Castlepoint to the northernmost
corner of Section No. 524, in Block I., Rewa Survey Dis-
trict: thence towards the south generally by the said Sec-
tion No. 524 and Sections Nos. 523, 14, 89, 92, and 96,
Block IV., Otahoua Survey District, to the Tauru River;
thence by that river to its confluence with the Mangatopi-
topi Stream: thence towards the west generally by the said
Mangatopotopi Stream and the eastern boundary of the
Kaioteatua Block to Section No. 5, Block XV., Kopuaranga
Survey District; thence by Sections Nos. 5 and 3, Block XV.,
and Sections Nos. 6, 5, 4, 3, 9, 120, and 119, Block XI., and
Section No. 210, Block VII., to the County of Mauriceville:
and thence by the County of Mauriceville to Alfredton
Riding, the place of commencement.

Rangitumau Riding.

Bounded towards the north generally by the County of
Mauriceville: towards the east generally by the Upper
Tauru Riding, hereinbefore described, from the County of
Mauriceville to the Mangatopotopi Stream at the western
boundary-line of the Punui Block: thence towards the
south-east generally by Punui and Taumatawhakapono West
Blocks, and Sections Nos. 24, 6, and 4, in Block II.,
Otahoua Survey District, to the Wangaehu River; thence by
that river to the road intersecting Section No. 8 and forming
the northern boundary of Te Ore Ore No. 3 Block; thence
by that road to the Masterton-Bideford Road; thence by the
said Masterton-Bideford Road to the Ruamahanga River:
thence towards the west generally by the said Ruamahanga
River to the north-western boundary-line of Section No. 20,
in Block IX., Kopuaranga Survey District; thence by that
boundary-line to the Kopuaranga River; thence by that
river to Section No. 40, in Block IX. aforesaid; thence by
Sections Nos. 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, and 45, in Block IX. afore-
said, and by Sections Nos. 46, 48, 49, and 50, in Block V., to
the County of Mauriceville, the place of commencement.

Wainuioru Riding.

Bounded towards the north-east generally by the County
of Castlepoint from the northern corner of Section No. 524,
in Block I., Rewa Survey District, to the ocean at the mouth
of the Whareama River: thence towards the east generally
by the ocean to the mouth of the Kaiwhata River: thence
towards the south-west generally by the County of Waira-
rapa South to the Tauru River; thence by that river to the
eastern boundary-line of Section No. 5, in Block VI., Otahoua
Survey District; thence by that boundary-line to the road
forming the northern boundary of the said Section No. 5;
thence by that road to the Rangitumau Riding hereinbefore
described: and thence towards the north-west generally by
the said Rangitumau Riding and by Upper Tauru Riding
hereinbefore described to the place of commencement.

Opaki Riding.

Bounded towards the north-east by the County of Maurice-
ville from the County of Horowhenua to the Rangitumau
Riding hereinbefore described: thence towards the east
generally by the said Rangitumau Riding to the Master-
ton-Bideford Road: thence towards the south by that road
to the Borough of Masterton; thence by the Borough of
Masterton to its northernmost corner: thence again towards
the east by the Borough of Masterton aforesaid, and Section
No. 50, in Block IV., Tiffen Survey District, to the Wai-
ngawa River: thence towards the south-west by the County
of Wairarapa South: and towards the west by the said
County of Horowhenua to the place of commencement.

Te Whiti Riding.

Bounded towards the north generally by the Opaki, Rangi-
tumau, and Wainuioru Ridings respectively, hereinbefore
described, from the Borough of Masterton to the eastern
boundary-line of Section No. 5, in Block VI., Otahoua Sur-
vey District; thence towards the south-east by the Wai-
nuioru Riding aforesaid, and the County of Wairarapa
South; and towards the south-west generally by the said
County of Wairarapa South, the Opaki Riding hereinbefore
described, and the Borough of Masterton, to the place of
commencement.

Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly;
Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished
Order of Saint Michael and Saint George;
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over
Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its
Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of
the said Colony, at the Government House, at
Wellington, this fifteenth day of January, in the
year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and
one.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this fourteenth
day of January, 1901.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon
him by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” His
Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said colony, doth hereby make the following
regulations for the purposes of the said Act:—

REGULATIONS.

DISTRICT ELECTORS LIST AND ROLL.

  1. The Town Clerk of every borough shall, on or before
    the 5th day of March in every year, make out the district
    electors list.

  2. The district electors list shall be prepared in the form
    and shall contain the particulars specified in the First
    Schedule hereto.

  3. In preparing the district electors list it shall be the
    duty of the Town Clerk to make it as complete as possible,
    and for that purpose the following regulations shall apply:—
    (1.) He shall place thereon the name—
    (a.) Of every person of whose qualification as
    an elector he is satisfied; and also
    (b.) Of every person who makes, and delivers
    or transmits to him at his office, a claim for
    enrolment as next hereinafter provided.
    (2.) Such claim for enrolment shall be in the form or to
    the effect set forth in the Second Schedule hereto,
    and the claimant’s signature shall be attested
    by either a Justice of the Peace, or a Postmaster,
    or a minister of religion, or an elector of the
    borough, or the Town Clerk.
    (3.) It shall be the duty of the Council to keep at the
    Town Clerk’s office a supply of blank printed
    claim-forms for the free use of claimants under
    the aforesaid paragraph (b).
    (4.) Names appearing on the district electors roll in
    respect of a freehold or ratepayer’s qualification
    for any year shall be continued on the district
    electors list for the succeeding year, except in the
    case of persons who are known to the Town Clerk
    to have died or to have lost their qualification;
    and it shall be his duty to report in writing to the
    Council all names thus omitted, and the reasons
    of the omission.
    (5.) He shall omit the name of every person enrolled
    in virtue of a residential qualification who, not
    being a candidate at such election, appears from
    a comparison of the rolls used at any election of
    a Mayor or Councillors not to have voted thereat.

  4. The Town Clerk shall keep the district electors list in
    his office, and allow it to be inspected without fee by all per-
    sons interested therein during office hours until the 12th day
    of March; and he shall, on or as soon as possible after the
    5th day of March, publicly notify that such lists are ready
    for inspection at his office.
