Notice of Intention to take Land in Tahorakuri Block for Approaches to Bridge over Waikato River.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” to execute a certain public work, to wit, the approaches to bridge over Waikato River, and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken; and notice is further given that a plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited at the Post-office, Rotorua, and is there open for inspection. And notice is hereby given that all persons affected by the taking of the said land shall, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Lands, Wellington.

Plants declared to be Noxious Weeds.—Notice No. 645.

Wellington, 22nd May, 1901.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Opaheke Road Board has, by special order, declared the whole of the plants enumerated in the Second Schedule of “The Noxious Weeds Act, 1900”—viz., Bathurst burr,
broom, giant burdock, gorse, hakea, and ragwort—to be “noxious weeds” within the meaning of the said Act, in the district under its jurisdiction.

VICTORIA.

GEELONG HARBOUR AND PORT PHILLIP BAY.

Geelong Harbour.—North Channel.

REFERRING to General Notice to Mariners, Victoria, dated 1st June, 1898, page 75, it is hereby notified that the buoys which marked the North Channel to Geelong have been removed, and pile beacons substituted therefor.

Port Phillip Bay.—Symonds Beacon.

Referring to Notice to Mariners dated 6th November, 1899, it is hereby notified that the pile beacon marking the north-east end of the West Middle Sand at the entrance to Symonds Channel has been replaced, and the 300-gallon-cask buoy, temporarily moored to mark such position, removed.

Port Phillip Bay.—South Channel.

Referring to General Notice to Mariners, Victoria, dated 1st June, 1898, page 66, it is hereby notified that two pile beacons, in 7 ft. of water and about 500 ft. apart, have been erected about 4 cables from the southern shore of Port Phillip Bay, nearly midway between Rye and Rosebud jetties. These beacons are for the purpose of fixing the position of the gas buoys which mark the dredged cut north of the South Channel Pile Lighthouse.

PORT OF PORT ALBERT.—FAIRWAY BUOY ADRIFT.

REFERRING to Notice to Mariners No. 41, dated 22nd May, 1900, it is hereby notified that the fairway buoy marking the outer entrance to the Eastern Channel has broken adrift. It will be replaced as soon as possible.

REFERRING to Notice to Mariners No. 63, dated 10th January, 1901, it is hereby notified that the No. 2 Royal George gas buoy has broken adrift. It will be replaced as soon as possible.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA.—SPENCER GULF.—MIDDLE BANK LIGHTSHIP.

REFERRING to Notices to Mariners Nos. 7 and 14 of 1901, mariners are hereby informed that the lightship will be replaced on Middle Bank on or about the 8th May, 1901. Pending execution of repairs, and until further notice, an ordinary riding-light will be exhibited in lieu of the light previously used.

This affects Admiralty Chart No. 2389B.
