Changing the Purpose of a Reserve in the Canterbury Land District.

RANFURLY, Governor.

WHEREAS the provisions and the requirements of the seventh section of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” have been duly complied with in respect of the land described in the first column of the Schedule hereto: And whereas notice in the Gazette has been duly published for four consecutive weeks, and laid before both Houses of the Assembly, as provided by the said section of the said Act: And whereas no resolution of either House of Assembly has been passed that such House does not concur in the intention declared in any such notice:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Act aforesaid, do hereby change the specific purpose of the reserve described in the first column of the Schedule hereto to the specific purpose set opposite such description in the second column of the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.

FIRST COLUMN. SECOND COLUMN.
Description of Reserve. Purpose.

All that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District, containing 194 acres 1 rood, more or less, being reserve numbered 3503, formerly part of Reserve No. 1921, situated in Block VI., Rangiora Survey District. Bounded on the northward by a road along the northern bank of the Ashley River, fronting Sections Nos. 2866, 2864, and 2863, to a point opposite the south-western corner of Section 1293; on the eastward by a line from the said point to the south-western corner of Reserve 1380; on the southward by Reserve 3036; and on the westward by the eastern boundary of Reserve 2431: as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Christchurch. The aforesaid parcel of land, being part of Reserve 1921, was permanently reserved for railway conservation purposes in the New Zealand Gazette No. 84, 11th October, 1877, page 1012. | River - conservation purposes.

Lands temporarily reserved in the Land Districts of Hawke’s Bay, Wellington, Marlborough, and Otago.

RANFURLY, Governor.

WHEREAS by the two-hundred-and-thirty-fifth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the Land Districts of Hawke’s Bay, Wellington, Marlborough, and Otago described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved.

SCHEDULE.

HAWKE’S BAY.

ALL that parcel of land in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 rood, more or less, being Section No. 11, Elsthorpe Village. Bounded towards the north-east by a road, 250 links; towards the south-east by a road, 100 links; towards the south-west by Section No. 10, 250 links; and towards the north-west by Section No. 16, 100 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Napier. For use of the Post and Telegraph Department.

WELLINGTON.

All that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 81 acres, more or less, being Section No. 21, Block IV., Tararua Survey District. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 15; towards the east by the Mangaraupi Road; towards the south by Section No. 21A; and towards the west by Section No. 17: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Wellington. For an endowment for primary education.

MARLBOROUGH.

All that parcel of land in the Marlborough Land District, being Motu Ngaro Island, situated in Gore Survey District: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Lands and Survey Office, Blenheim. For the use of the aboriginal natives of the Ngatikuia Tribe.

OTAGO.

All that parcel of land in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 4 acres and 2 perches, more or less, being Section No. 84, Block VI., Maungatua Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by Section No. 39 of same block and district, 299 links; towards the north-east by Section No. 39 of same block and district, 937 links; towards the south-east by a road-line, 557½ links; and towards the south-west by a road-line around Lake Tatawai, 972 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Dunedin. For the use of aboriginal natives.

All that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 121 acres, more or less, situate in Block VI., Maungatua Survey District, and known as Tatawai Lake. Bounded towards the north, east, and west by road-line forming the boundaries of Sections Nos. 9, 8, 54, 47, 39, 84, 46, 45, 44, and 43 of Block VI., Maungatua District, 19000 links; towards the south by road-line to bridge, 100 and 200 links; also by small island, 2000 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Dunedin. For fishing purposes.

All that parcel of land in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre 3 roods 8 perches, more or less, being Section No. 60 of Block I, Akatore District. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 12 of same block and district, 340 links; towards the east by Section No. 12A of same block and district, 926 links; towards the south-west by Section No. 12 of same block and district, 904 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Dunedin. For an extension of the public school site.

Amending the Description of a Reserve in the Wellington Land District.

RANFURLY, Governor.

WHEREAS by the two-hundred-and-thirty-ninth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that where there has been any error of description made in any notification of any intended reserve, or where there appears a great discrepancy in the area of any intended reserve after the same shall have been surveyed, the Governor may cancel any notification that may have been made in respect of such reserve, and issue fresh notification in respect thereof, with amended particulars and description: And whereas an error was made in the description of Section No. 11, Block III., Tiriraukawa Survey District, Wellington Land District, which was wrongly described as Section No. 11, Block VII., Tiriraukawa Survey District, in the warrants of the twenty-third day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, and the thirty-first day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 71, of the twenty-ninth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, and No. 79, of the third day of November, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, respectively, reserving the land for travelling stock; and it is expedient to cancel the said notifications so far as they relate to Section No. 11, Block VII., Tiriraukawa Survey District, aforesaid:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby revoke the warrants of the twenty-third day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, and the thirty-first day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, in so far as they relate to Section 11, Block VII., Tiriraukawa Survey District, and do declare that the
