Defining the Purpose of a Reserve in the Canterbury Land District.
RANFURLY, Governor.
WHEREAS the provisions and the requirements of the seventh section of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” have been duly complied with in respect of the land described in the first column of the Schedule hereto: And whereas notice in the Gazette has been duly published for four consecutive weeks, and laid before both Houses of the Assembly, as provided by the said section of the said Act: And whereas no resolution of either House of Assembly has been passed that such House does not concur in the intention declared in any such notice:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Act aforesaid, do hereby define the specific purpose of the reserve described in the first column of the Schedule hereto to be the specific purpose set opposite such description in the second column of the said Schedule.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.
FIRST COLUMN.
Description of Reserve.
SECOND COLUMN.
Purpose.
All that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 31 acres, more or less, being Reserve No. 1873. Bounded towards the north-east generally by Rural Section No. 3744; towards the south-east by Reserve No. 898; towards the south-west by a public road; and towards the north-west generally by Rural Sections Nos. 826, 1485, 3660: excepting from the above-described area Reserve No. 873A.
Sanctuary for native water-fowl.

Warrant exempting Crown Lands from the Operation of “The Mining Act, 1898.”
RANFURLY, Governor.
WHEREAS by section twenty of “The Mining Act, 1898,” it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may from time to time, by notice in the Gazette, exempt any Crown lands from mining, or from any specified mining purpose, or from that Act or any specified provisions of that Act; and that the lands to which any such notice relates shall be specified therein by words of particular description:
And whereas it is desirable that the lands specified in the Schedule hereto should be exempted from mining, or from any specified mining purpose, or from “The Mining Act, 1898,” or from any specified provisions of that Act:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the hereinbefore-in-part-recited Act, and of all powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby exempt the lands particularly described in the Schedule hereto from mining, or from any specified mining purpose, or from the operations of “The Mining Act, 1898,” or from any specified provisions of the said Act.
SCHEDULE.
WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.
ALL that piece of land situated in Blocks III. and IV., Karangarua Survey District, containing 1,000 acres, more or less, bounded on the north by Fox River, on the east by a line proceeding due south from Trig. Station J.F., and on the south and west by Cook River.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-seventh day of December, one thousand nine hundred.

Notifying Lands in Auckland for Sale by Public Auction.
RANFURLY, Governor.
IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirteenth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Friday, the eighth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and one, as the time at which the lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction; and I do hereby fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto opposite the descriptions of such lands respectively.
