Mostly fairly good land, in many places 5 ft. deep to gravel; covered with scrub about 9 ft. high; belt of black- and white-pine along river-bank; creeks all gravel bottom, with very heavy fall; swamp-land easily drained into river; land all level, very easily cleared.
Fifteen sections, Blocks XII. and XVI., Waitaha, IX. and XIII., Totara, and I., Whitcombe Pass Survey Districts. Mostly all good agricultural land; access by Main South Road and Waitaha River bed; sections well watered, generally covered with black and yellow scrub, very easily cleared, interspersed with belts of totara, black-, red-, and white-pine valuable for building and fencing purposes. Situated about four miles from sea-beach and sixteen miles from Township of Ross; lying at an elevation of from 51 ft. to 240 ft. above sea level. The small areas of swamp shown on plan can be very easily and cheaply drained, as all creeks running through them have a very great fall; the soil in such swamps is deep and rich. A dray-road 12 ft. in width will shortly be constructed through the centre of the block, each section having frontage to the same.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-first day of February, one thousand nine nine hundred and one.
C. H. MILLS,
For Minister of Lands.
