Rural Lands in the Nelson Land District open for Sale or Selection.
RANFURLY, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section
of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare
that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the seventeenth
day of April, one thousand nine hundred and one; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may,
at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in
perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected
on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased,
as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under
and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

These sections are adjacent to the village-site, and are level, with the exception of 37, which is undulating; soil good;
forest with some milling-timber.

Section 10 mostly flat terraces, with about 20 acres low spurs; little milling-timber, white-pine, rimu, and birch.
Sections 11 and 6, with 13 and 11, are principally hilly; soil not so good as 10. Sections 11 and 13 have some milling-
timber.

Section 14 is steep and broken; Section 26 is better, though hilly; timber chiefly brown- and red-birch, with some
rimus along river.

takes grass well.

These sections are generally hilly with occasional small flats against the road; the bulk of the timber is brown- and
red-birch, with some rimus on the first three sections.

About one-fourth of Section 6 is flat or flat terraces, remainder low spurs; the bush has been burnt on about 30 acres,
and it is now grown up with fern. Section 7 has a little flat on western side, remainder low spurs; about 100 acres
on western side burnt and grown up with fern.
