Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of every power and authority enabling me in this behalf, and for the purposes of the said Act, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim the block of land described in the Schedule hereto as set apart for settlement.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the second section of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act Amendment Act, 1891” (herein termed “the said Act”), it is, amongst other things, enacted that, before certain moneys therein mentioned shall be expended upon any block of land, it shall be necessary that the same be proclaimed as set apart for settlement:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of every power and authority enabling me in this behalf, and for the purposes of the said Act, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim the block of land described in the Schedule hereto as set apart for settlement.

SCHEDULE.

WHAREKOPAE AND HANGAROA MATAWAI BLOCKS.

All those areas of land, containing in the aggregate 138,159 acres, more or less, as hereunder described:—

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay and Auckland Land Districts, containing by admeasurement 120,019 acres, more or less, being the Tahora Nos. 2AE 3, Section 1; 2AE 2, 2AE 1, Section 1; 2AD, Section 1; 2A, Section 1; 2B, Section 1; 2B No. 1, 2G, Section 1; 2C 3, Section 1; 2C 1, Section 2; and 2F, Section 1; situated in the Survey Districts of Waimana, Waioheka, Waioheka South, Moanui Koranga, and Tuahu. Bounded on the north generally by the Tahora Nos. 2AE 3, 2A, 2B, Section 2, Blocks, and the confiscation boundary: on the east generally by the Waioheka River, the Tahora Nos. 2C 3, Section 2; 2C 1, Section 3; and 2F, Section 2 Block: on the south by the Waipaoa Stream and the Waipaoa Block: and on the west by Native land, the Tahora Nos. 2AD, Section 2; 2AE 1, Section 2, Blocks, and the Waimana Block.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 15,915 acres, more or less, being the Tahora Nos. 2C 2, Section 1; 2C 1, Section 1; and the Hangaroa-Matawai A Blocks, situated in the Survey Districts of Ngatapa and Hangaroa. Bounded on the north-east by the Wharekopae, Wharekopae 1B No. 3, and Wharekopae No. 1A Blocks; on the south-east and south by the Hangaroa-Matawai B Block and the Hangaroa River; and on the west generally by the Tahora Nos. 2C 1, Section 3, and 2C 2, Section 2, Blocks.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 2,225 acres, more or less, being the Wharekopae No. 1B 3, Section 2, and 1B 1, Section 2, Blocks, situated in the Ngatapa Survey District. Bounded on the north-west by the Wharekopae Block; on the north-east by the Ngatapa Stream; on the east and south by the Wharekopae Nos. 1B 1, 1B 2, and 1A Blocks; and on the south-west by the Wharekopae No. 1B 3, Block.

As the same are delineated on the plan marked S.G. 45467, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon edged with red.

Local Land District constituted.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the twenty-third section of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that the Governor, by Proclamation in the Gazette, may from time to time establish and define, abolish, alter, or reconstitute local districts for the sale or disposal of land, and in like manner from time to time may appoint land offices and land officers or other persons for conducting sales of land in such local districts, and for receiving applications for the sale, letting, disposal, or occupation of Crown lands, and for generally carrying into effect the provisions of the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the district described in the Schedule hereto is hereby established, defined, and constituted a local district for the sale and disposal of land under the said Act, and that the land office the name of which is in the said Schedule set opposite the name of the said local district is appointed the land office for the said local district.

SCHEDULE.

Name and Description of Local District. Names of Land Offices.
LYNDON LOCAL LAND DISTRICT. All that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 4,196 acres 3 roods 28 perches, more or less, being Sections Nos. 1 to 8, Block IX., Waiau Survey District, and known as Lyndon Settlement; as the same is delineated upon the plan deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington. Principal Land Office, Christchurch. Local Land Office, McDonald’s Hall, Waiau.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-second day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and one.
