WIROKINO ROAD BOARD.

RESULT of poll of ratepayers of Paiaka Special Rating
District, taken on Wednesday, 4th day of December, 1901,
on the proposal to borrow £500, under “The Government
Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of
metalling Paiaka Road to Mr. Gardner’s flaxmill gate:—
Number of valid votes recorded, 9: number of valid votes
for the proposal, 9; number of valid votes against the
proposal, nil.

The number of valid votes recorded for the proposal being
more than three-fifths of the total number of valid votes
recorded, I hereby declare the poll carried.

Notice of Intention to take Land at Pitt Island, Chatham
Islands, for Boat-harbour Purposes.


NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the
provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” to
execute a certain public work, to wit, the construction of
wharf and landing-shed for boat-harbour purposes at Pitt
Island, Chatham Islands, and for the purposes of such
public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is
required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given
that a copy of the plan of the land so required to be taken
is deposited in the Post-office, Pitt Island, and is there open
for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution
of the said public work or by the taking of the said land
should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the
execution of the said public work or to the taking of such
land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing
within forty days from the first publication of this notice to
the Minister for Public Works, addressed to the care of the
Stipendiary Magistrate, Chatham Islands.


SCHEDULE.

THE parcel of land mentioned in list hereunder:—

A. R. P. 0 0 27·68 Lot No. 4, Fitt Island Chatham Islands.

In the Land District of Wellington; as the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 19595,
deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at
Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, and
thereon coloured red.

December, one thousand nine hundred and one.

Requisition as to taking Land compulsorily under “The
Land for Settlements Consolidation, Act, 1900,” and its
Amendments.


NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended, on behalf
of His Majesty, to take compulsorily, under the
provisions of “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act,
1900,” and its amendments, the land whose acreage, description, and classification, as also the names and addresses of
whose owners, is specified in the Schedule hereto; and
every owner of the land, and also every other person having
any estate or interest therein, are hereby required to serve
their respective claims for compensation on the Minister of
Lands in the form and manner and within the period provided by the said Act.


SCHEDULE.

MILBOURNE ESTATE.

ALL those areas of land in the Land District of Hawke’s Bay, situated in the Maraekakahu and Waipukurau Survey Districts, containing in the aggregate 29,620 acres, more or less, and being the lands described as follows:—

  1. All that parcel of land in the land district aforesaid, containing 13,232 acres, more or less, being Blocks 1, 2, 139, 149, 150, 151, 152, 153, 154, 155, 156, 157, 158, 159, 167A, 168A, 169A, 170, 171, 172, 173, 173A, 175, 189, 208, Ruataniwha Crown-grant District, and the portions of abolished road-lines fronting certain of the above-mentioned blocks. Bounded towards the north generally by the Manga Muku and Manga-o-Nuku Streams, towards the east generally by the Manga-o-Nuku Stream aforesaid, towards the south and south-west generally by the Waipawa River, and towards the north-west generally by a road.

  2. All that parcel of land in the land district aforesaid, containing 16,388 acres, more or less, being Blocks Nos. 2A, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 131, 132, 140, 141, 143, and parts of Blocks Nos. 134, 142, 179, Ruataniwha Crown-grant District; Block No. 70, and part of Block No. 69, Patangata Crown-grant District; and a portion of the land originally granted to the Bishop of New Zealand as an endowment for a school. Bounded generally towards the north by Block No. 24, Te Onepu East and West Blocks, and Te Ipu-o-Taraia Block; towards the east by college land, part of Block No. 142, Blocks Nos. 68, 55, 54, 67, and 53; towards the south by part of Block No. 69, the Kaikora Stream, Blocks Nos. 180, 123, 18, 19, 148, 124, 133, and parts of Blocks Nos. 179 and 134; and towards the west by the Manga-o-Nuku Stream, the Karawa Stream, Te Heka Stream, and Block No. 24 aforesaid: excepting from the land within the above-described boundaries Blocks Nos. 16 and 17, Ruataniwha Crown-grant District.

As the same are delineated on the plan marked S.G. 19254, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon edged with red.

  1. The Minister’s Classification of the Land—

Second-class . . . . 29,620 Acres.

  1. The land intended to be taken is the whole of the estate.

  2. Names and Addresses of the Owners of the Estate.—The owners in fee-simple are Gervaise Edwin du Croz, of 52, Lombard Street, in the City of London; and Frederick Green, of 13, Fenchurch Avenue, London; trustees of the estates of John Milbourne Stokes and Robert Stokes.

Marine Board, Port Adelaide, South Australia, is
published for general information.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA.—ENTRANCE TO PORT ADELAIDE RIVER.

Notice is hereby given that, in consequence of No. 1 Light-beacon having been knocked down, a barge, from which a leading-light is exhibited, has been moored in approximately the same position. As the barge moves with the tide, masters of vessels and others should exercise the greatest caution in entering the river, and not trust to the white light as a lead. They are advised to take a distance off the occulting buoy, and then steer for the red light.
