HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to accept, under clause 39, (1), “The Defence Act, 1886,” and amended paragraph 264, Volunteer Regulations, the services of the “Mataura Boys’ Brigade Rifle Cadet Volunteers,” with headquarters at Mataura, Southland. Acceptance to date from the 2nd December, 1901.

Special Order made by the Waipu County Council altering the Boundaries of the Waipiro and Piritarau Ridings.

THE following special order, made by the Waipu County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Counties Act, 1886.”

WAIPU COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order altering Boundaries of Waipiro and Piritarau Ridings.

In exercise of the powers conferred on them by “The Counties Act, 1886,” section 44, this Council do now resolve as follows:—

That the boundaries of the Waipiro and the Piritarau Ridings, as described in the New Zealand Gazette of the 16th of August, 1894, No. 61, page 1300, and in the New Zealand Gazette of the 10th of March, 1898, No. 17, page 444, be altered, and that from and after the date of the publication in the New Zealand Gazette of this resolution the boundaries of the aforesaid Waipiro and Piritarau Ridings shall be those set forth under their respective headings in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

Waipiro Riding.

Bounded towards the south by the Tokomaru Riding, as described in the New Zealand Gazette of the 10th March, 1898, No. 17, page 444: towards the west and north-west by the Opotiki County to Hikurangi: thence generally towards the north by the Tapuwaeroa No. 2, Aorangiwai No. 1, and Taoroa Blocks to the Mangapekapeka Stream; thence by that stream to its confluence with the Mata River; thence by the Mata River to the mouth of the Wharau Stream; thence by that stream to its intersection with the southern boundary-line of the Makarika Block; thence by that block to the Makarika Stream; thence by that stream to its intersection with the southern boundary-line of Te Ahioteatua Block; thence by the last-named block to the Mangaehu Stream; thence by the Mangaehu Stream to its junction with the Kopuaroa Stream; thence by that stream and the southern boundary of the Akuaku Block to the sea: thence towards the east by the sea to the southern boundary of the Waipiro Block, being the junction with the Tokomaru Riding.

Piritarau Riding

Bounded towards the east by the sea: towards the south by the Waipiro Riding, as above described: towards the west by the Opotiki County to the intersection of the boundary of that county with the Kumi Block: thence bounded towards the north by the Kumi, Waikura, and Ahomatariki Nos. 3, 1, and 2 Blocks to the junction of the Ahomatariki No. 2 Block with the Tangihanga Block; thence by the Tangihanga Block to a point in the middle of the Otutamari Stream thence by a line along the middle of that stream
