Consenting to closing Road through Rural Section 471, Block XIII., Christchurch Survey District, Selwyn County.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this fourth day of December, 1901.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE W. C. WALKER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section twelve, subsection one, of “The Public Works Acts Amendment Act, 1900,” it is enacted that a local authority shall not declare any county or district road to be stopped, and such road shall not be deemed to be stopped, until the consent thereto of the Governor by Order in Council gazetted is obtained: And whereas the County Council of Selwyn has applied for such consent in respect to the road described in the Schedule hereto:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and in exercise of the above-in-part-recited Act, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby consent to the County Council of Selwyn closing the part of the road mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

WHEREAS by section twelve, subsection one, of “The Public Works Acts Amendment Act, 1900,” it is enacted that a local authority shall not declare any county or district road to be stopped, and such road shall not be deemed to be stopped, until the consent thereto of the Governor by Order in Council gazetted is obtained:

And whereas the Pigeon Bay Road Board has applied for such consent in respect to the portions of the road described in the Schedule hereto:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and in exercise of the above-in-part-recited Act, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby consent to the closing of the parts of the road mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

Fixing Date of Payment of Income-tax for 1901–2.

RANFURLY, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this eleventh day of December, 1901.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE W. C. WALKER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him under “The Land-tax and Income-tax Act, 1901,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and determine that the respective duties leviable under the said Act by way of income-tax shall be paid in one sum on Wednesday, the twenty-ninth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and two.

And in further pursuance and exercise of the power and authority aforesaid, and with the like advice and consent as aforesaid, His Excellency doth also determine that the place where the said duties of income-tax shall be payable shall be the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, at the Government Buildings, Wellington, and that notice to the foregoing effect shall be given by the said Commissioner accordingly.

Altering Legal Landing-places at Wellington.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN exercise of the power in me for this purpose vested by “The Customs Laws Consolidation Act, 1882,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby annul the Order numbered one hundred and fifty-one, and dated the twenty-eighth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven, in which the legal landing-places for the Port of Wellington were set out and appointed, and in lieu thereof do declare and appoint that, from the day of the date hereof, the wharves known as—

The Queen’s Wharf,
Jervois Quay from the Queen’s Wharf to the southern end of the berth known as No. 16,
The Wool Jetty,
The wharf connecting the Wool Jetty and the Railway Wharf at their heads,
The Railway Wharf,
The wharf connecting the Railway Wharf and the Glasgow Wharf at their heads,
The Glasgow Wharf—

shall be deemed and taken to be legal landing-places at the Port of Wellington for the lading and unlading of goods under “The Customs Laws Consolidation Act, 1882.”

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this tenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and one.

Governor’s Order No. 160.]

Warrant fixing Tolls to be charged at Mokau Ferry.

RANFURLY, Governor.

WHEREAS by section one hundred and forty-three of “The Public Works Act, 1894” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is provided that no toll shall be payable unless the scale of tolls is publicly notified for fourteen days before becoming first payable:

And whereas by section one hundred and five of the said Act it is, inter alia, enacted that all powers, rights, duties, and liabilities thereby vested in and imposed upon a Road Board in the case of a Government road shall be vested and imposed upon the Governor:

And whereas by Order in Council dated the twenty-third day of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, that portion of the road which extends across the Mokau Ferry, with approaches thereto, was declared a Government road:

And whereas by section one hundred and forty-two of the said Act it is, inter alia, provided that the scale of tolls may from time to time be revoked or altered:

And whereas a scale of tolls for the said ferry was fixed by Warrant signed by the Governor on the thirty-first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 10, page 236, of the seventh day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five; and it is desirable to revoke and alter such scale:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of the powers and authority vested in me by the said Act,
