Rural Lands in the Taranaki Land District open for Sale or Selection.
RANFURLY, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the fourteenth day of November, one thousand nine hundred; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

All pastoral country, more or less broken; soil varies from fair to good; well watered; lying upon a formation principally of papa, with a little sandstone and a smaller quantity of limestone; shell rock also may be found in the block. The land is densely timbered with tawa, rata, rimu, tawhero, miro, matai, and rewarewa. Access will be from Eltham Railway-station, distant from thirty-two to thirty-six miles via the Rawhitiroa Road, twenty miles of which has been opened as a dray-road, eleven miles being metalled; the remainder of the road is formed as a bridle-track to near the junction of the Waitotara Valley Road, the latter having been opened for dray traffic to within about eight miles of the block. The altitude varies from 1,500 ft. to 1,800 ft. above sea-level.

Land temporarily reserved in the Land Districts of Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, Wellington, Canterbury, and Otago.
RANFURLY, Governor.
WHEREAS by the two-hundred-and-thirty-fifth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the Land Districts of Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, Wellington, Canterbury, and Otago, described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified at the end of the description of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, being Section No. 42B of the Parish of Whangamarino, and containing by admeasurement 5 acres, more or less. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 42 of the Parish of Whangamarino, 707 links; towards the east by a public road, 707 links; towards the south by Section No. 42 aforesaid, 707 links; and towards the west by the same section, 707 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a public cemetery.
HAWKE’S BAY.
All that parcel of land in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 6 acres and 10 perches, more or less, being Section No. 90, Block XIII., Maungaharuru Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by the Kaiwaka Block, 1475·3 links; towards the south by Block 26, Patoka Crown Grant District, 1256·3 links; towards the north-west by a public road, 975·1 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Napier. For a public-school site.
All that parcel of land in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 97 acres 2 roods, more or less, being Section No. 2, Block IX., Whangara Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east generally by a road, 5578·5 links; towards the east generally by a road, 13905·7 links; towards the south generally by a road, 2757·1 links; towards the west by the Waimata South No. 2 Block, 4745·3 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the Lands and Survey Office, Gisborne. For an endowment for primary education.
WELLINGTON.
All that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 14 acres 2 roods, more or less, being Section No. 21, Block I., Makuri Survey District. Bounded towards the north by a public road, 100 links wide; towards the east by a public road, 100 links wide, and part of Section 20; towards the south by a road reserve along Tiraumea River; and towards the west by a road reserve along Tiraumea River: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Wellington. For the preservation of scenery.
All that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 175 acres, more or less, being Section No. 9, Block XIII., Mangarui Survey District. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 8; towards the east generally by the 1-chain reserve along the Orautoha Stream, and a public road; towards the south by Section No. 9A; and towards the west by Native land: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Wellington. For the use and support of Tira Koroheke, an aboriginal native.
All that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 55 acres, more or less, being Section No. 21A, Block XVI., Apiti Survey District. Bounded towards the north by the Umutoi Road and Section No. 2; towards the east by the road reserve along the Pohangina River; towards the south by the road reserve along the Pohangina River; and towards the west by the Umutoi Road: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Wellington. For the preservation of scenery.
