THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

  1. Every person who, by himself, his agent or servant, drives without the permission of an Inspector, or suffers to stray, any diseased or infected stock across or upon any land, or drives, depastures, or suffers to stray any diseased or infected stock upon or along any highway, is liable, for every day during which such stock shall be so driven, depastured, or suffered to stray, to a penalty not exceeding £50 nor less than £2.

IT is hereby notified that, the leases of the under-mentioned Crown lands having been declared forfeited by resolutions of the Otago Land Board, the said lands have reverted to the Crown under the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Westland Land District.—Auction Sale of Pastoral Runs.

Crown Lands Office,
Hokitika, 16th January, 1900.

NOTICE is hereby given that the licenses of the pastoral runs set out below will be offered by public auction, at the Land Office, Hokitika, on the 27th day of February next, at the hour of 2 o’clock in the afternoon, at the prices and for the terms given, and subject to any rights of renewal or resumption as may be provided by the Land Acts, or other constituted authority, and subject to the necessary declarations being taken.

Maps may be seen at the Land Office, Hokitika, where other full particulars, as to conditions of sale and license, &c., may be ascertained.

Payments to be made on the fall of the hammer, and consist, with regard to the said licenses, of six months’ rent in advance and license-fee of £1 1s.

Run No. 3, 10,500 acres, southern face of Hohonu Range: Principally bush-clad hillside; all cattle country, easy of access from Taramakau River bed.

Run No. 5, 10,000 acres, Upper Taramakau Valley: Rough forest, for the most part wild mountain-faces, with narrow fringe of scrubby flats along the river. Access by open river-bed.

Run No. 7, 9,000 acres, Taipo Valley: Shaggy bush sidings; contain a few open islands on river-bed; also light scrub-covered strip along bank; cattle-feed. Access by open river-bed, and metalled horse-track from Christchurch Road.

Run No. 11, 11,000 acres, in Upper Hokitika Valley: For the most part rough forest-clad spurs and gullies; only suitable for cattle. Access by Whitcombe Valley Road.

Run No. 12, 3,000 acres: Situate in Upper Valley of Mikonui River; narrow strips of light scrub land, with a few tussock islands. Access by metalled horse-track, via Totara River.

Run No. 18, 14,500 acres, Lower Karangarua Valley: All cattle-feed; mostly rough hillsides; dense forest, with a few scrub-covered flats. Access by main road and open river-bed.

Run No. 19, 17,000 acres, Mahitahi River: Suitable for cattle; all bush-feed; small portion flat country, the remainder steep sidings. Access by Main South Road and open river-bed.

Run No. 25, 18,000 acres, Arawata Valley: Mainly cattle-feed; steep hillsides, with narrow bush-clad flats. Access by open river-bed.

Run No. 27, 24,000 acres, in Cook and Fox Valleys: Suitable principally for cattle, but also for a few sheep; comprising wild bush-clad mountain-faces, with lower gentle slopes and patches of tussock land, and open islands in river-bed.

Run No. 58, 12,500 acres, in Lower Wanganui Valley: Wholly cattle-country; low heavily timbered hills and river-flats.

Run No. 63, 15,500 acres, in Lower Wataroa Valley, on north bank: Bush-clad terraces and hillsides; cattle-feed only. Access by Main South Road.

Run No. 65, 15,000 acres, in Moeraki Valley: The whole of the run is thickly timbered, and only fitted for cattle. Access by Main South Road, which runs through centre of the run.
