Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Avon Road Board, County of Selwyn.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Avon Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

AVON ROAD DISTRICT.
Papanui Improvement Scheme.
PURSUANT to the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” and its amendments, and “The Local Government Voting Reform Act, 1899,” I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers in the special rating district which is defined and described in the Schedule to the notice dated the 14th day of March, 1900, and signed by the Chairman and Clerk of the Avon Road Board, which notice was published in the Lyttelton Times newspaper of the 31st day of March and the 7th, 14th, and 21st days of April, 1900, of the taking of which poll notice was duly given and was published in the Lyttelton Times newspaper of the 3rd day of May, 1900, was duly taken in St. Paul’s Schoolroom, Papanui, on Friday, the 11th day of May instant, between the hours of 9 of the clock in the forenoon and 6 of the clock in the afternoon of the said day, for the purpose of deciding by the vote of the said ratepayers whether or not the proposal contained in the said notice of the 14th day of March, 1900, should be carried into effect. And I hereby give further notice that at the taking of the said poll the votes of the said ratepayers were given as stated in the Schedule hereunder written.
The Schedule above referred to.
Number of ratepayers who voted in favour of the proposal, 41; number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 51; number of ratepayers who voted against the proposal, 2; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 3.
The number of valid votes recorded at the said poll in favour of the said proposal exceeds three-fifths of the total number of the valid votes recorded thereat; I therefore declare the said proposal carried.

RESULT of poll of burgesses taken on Friday, 4th May, 1900, to authorise the Whangarei Borough Council to raise a special loan of £11,000 to construct waterworks for the Borough of Whangarei :—
Number of burgesses on roll, 373, representing 373 votes: Number of burgesses voted for the proposal, 115; number of burgesses voted against the proposal, 102; number of burgesses who did not vote, 152; informal votes, 4.
I declare the proposal carried.

I, James McKinnon, of Whangarei, Town Clerk, solemnly and sincerely declare that all the proceedings required by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” in the matter of obtaining the sanction of the ratepayers to a proposal for a special loan, have been duly taken with reference to the special loan for £11,000 for which a poll of ratepayers was taken on the 4th day of May, 1900; and I make this declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”
