All forest, with the exception of part of Section No. 25, which is covered with light bush, comprising rata, rimu, kahikatea, tawa, and soft woods. Most of the sections are rich alluvial flats, with good slopes on other portions. Distance from Urenui Township, about thirteen miles, partly by gravelled road and partly by dray-road formation. There is a school at Uruti, distant about three miles. The Moki Road will in the future be a connecting-road to Mokau and Ohura Roads.

Appointments to the Central Military Examination Board, and Officers relieved.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the appointment of Lieut.-Colonel Thomas William Porter, New Zealand Militia, to be President of the Central Board for the Examination of Candidates for Commissions in the New Zealand Defence Forces, whilst in command of the Wellington Militia and Volunteer District; and also to approve of the appointment of Lieut.-Colonel Robert Joseph Collins, 1st Battalion Wellington Rifle Volunteers, and Captain Robert Haylock Owen, Her Majesty’s South Lancashire Regiment, as additional members of the said Board: relieving Lieut.-Colonel Arthur Hume, New Zealand Militia; Major Sir Arthur Percy Douglas, Baronet, New Zealand Militia; and John Coleman, late Major, New Zealand Permanent Militia, of their duties. Appointments to date from 14th May, 1900.
