Rural Lands in the Taranaki Land District open for Sale or Selection.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the eleventh day of July, one thousand nine hundred; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Good rolling country, not very steep; all forest, consisting of tawa and a little rimu; well watered, and of papa formation. Access by Ohura and Moki Roads, distant about fifty-eight miles from Stratford, fifty-five miles of which is formed as a dray-road.

SECOND-CLASS LAND.

All forest land, consisting principally of tawa; the ridges as a rule are low, and the soil good, resting upon papa formation. Section 12, Block VI., Pouatu, has some steep ridges and gullies in the south-west portion; good building-sites may be obtained on both sections. Access to Section 12 will be by the Ohura Road, which is formed as a dray-road for fifty-five miles from Stratford, thence by the Tuhara Road and Rimuputa Road, which are not yet opened, a distance of about four miles. Section 18 will be approached by the Ohura and Moki Roads, and is about fifty-eight miles from Stratford.

A small portion flat, the balance rough pastoral land; about 50 acres felled and sown in grass, now of some three or four years’ growth. The country is of papa formation, well watered; the bush on the section comprises rimu, rata, &c. Distant about eleven miles and a half from Urenui via Mimi Road, with frontage to by-road, and about one mile and a half from Uruti Post-office.

Weighted with £25, valuation for improvements. All pastoral land of volcanic formation; well watered; the bush consists principally of rata, tawhero, &c., with the usual undergrowth; the soil is poor. Access by the Saunders and Carrington Roads from Okato Township, about five miles and a half.
