SCHEDULE.
WAIPU RIVER DISTRICT.

All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded towards the north generally by the Parishes of Ruarangi, Mangapai, and Ruakaka; towards the north-east generally by the sea; and towards the south and south-west generally by the Otamatea County.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-fourth day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred.

Defining the Middle Line of a Portion of the Gisborne-Karaka Railway.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS a part of the Gisborne-Karaka Railway—namely, from Gisborne to a point on the left bank of the Waipaoa River near its junction with the Ngakoroa Stream (hereinafter termed “the said railway”)—is a railway the construction of which is authorised by “The Railways Authorisation Act, 1899”: And whereas it has been determined to construct and maintain a portion of the same:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and in exercise of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle line of the said portion of the said railway shall be that defined and set forth in the Schedule hereto.


SCHEDULE.

COMMENCING at a point in the Township of Gisborne, the said point being on the south-eastern side of Customhouse Street, and distant about 175 links from its intersection with the south-western side of Gladstone Road; proceeding thence generally, first in a southerly, then in a westerly, and then in a north-westerly direction for a total distance of about 4 miles 25 chains, and passing in, into, through, or over the following lands—viz., lands, streets, and wharves in the said Township of Gisborne; Waikanae Blocks Nos. 1, 1c, and 1d; Sections Nos. 24, 25, 26, and 27, Block III., Waikanae Township; subdivisions of Wai-o-hi-Harore Block, Nos. 2, 1d, 1a, and Subdivisions of Waikanae Block, Nos. 4, 5, 6, and 7; all in Blocks VII. and III., Turanganui Survey District: other part of Subdivision No. 7 of the said Waikanae Block; land lying between aforesaid Subdivision No. 7, Waikanae Block, and Section No. 214, Gisborne Township; Sections Nos. 214, 217, and 216, Gisborne Township; land lying between Lytton Road and Section No. 6, Te Hapera Block; Sections Nos. 7, 6, and 5, Te Hapera Block aforesaid; Matawhero Block No. 1a; Subdivisions Nos. 1, C, D, 3, 2, 1, 5b2, 5b1, Matawhero Block B or No. 5; land lying between public road and Section No. 25; Sections Nos. 25, 24, and 22; Blocks Mangamoteo and Tutae-o-rewhanga; all in Block II., Turanganui Survey District—and terminating at a point in the said Tutae-o-rewhanga Block distant about 6 chains from the right bank of the Taruhero River: including all adjoining and intervening places, lands, roads, tracks, rivers, streams, and watercourses: all in the Provincial District of Auckland: in the manner delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 18821, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works at Wellington.

Lands in the Auckland Land District open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land for Settlements Act, 1894,” and the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section is provided, do hereby declare that the lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on and after the twelfth day of March, one thousand nine hundred; and that the said lands may be selected on lease in perpetuity, subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892”; and I do hereby declare that the rentals at which the said lands shall be leased shall be those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto opposite the description of such lands respectively.
