THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Stratford County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

STRATFORD COUNTY COUNCIL.
RESULT of a poll taken on the 1st day of February, 1900, upon the proposal to borrow £1,775 under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and the amendments thereof, for forming, grading, bridging, and culverting parts of the Brewer, Kirai, Makahu, and Mangaehu Roads:—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 30; number of votes exercisable, 34: Number of ratepayers voting in favour of the proposal, 25; number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 29; number of ratepayers voting against the proposal, nil.
The required majority having been obtained, I hereby declare the above proposal to be carried.

THE following is the result of the poll taken on the 10th day of January, 1900, on the proposal to borrow £2,500 for the purpose of establishing the electric light in Patea:—
For the proposal, 128; against the proposal, 8: majority for the proposal, 120. I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

I, Robert William Holden Hamerton, Town Clerk, Borough of Patea, do solemnly and sincerely declare that all proceedings required by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1896,” in the matter of obtaining the sanction of the ratepayers to a proposal for a special loan have been duly taken with reference to the special loan for £2,500, for which a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Patea was taken on the 10th day of January, 1900. And I make this declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

Proposed Loan No. 56.—Matarua Bridge.
THE following is the result of a poll taken on 2nd December, 1899, on a proposal to borrow £200 under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” to construct (with Government subsidy) traffic-bridge across the Matarua Stream, Mangahao, and form approaches thereto:—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 32, representing 37 votes: Voted in favour, 21, representing 25 votes; number of ratepayers who did not vote, 11, representing 12 votes.
There being a majority of votes and voters in favour, I declare the proposal carried.

Notice as to Day for closing under “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894.”
NOTICE is hereby given that, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894,” and of all other powers and authorities me hereto enabling, and in terms of notice in writing duly received by me from the Chairman of the Conference of Delegates of all the local authorities comprised in the district constituted for the purposes of that Act by the Boroughs of the City of Auckland, Parnell, Newmarket, and Newton (being all the boroughs or town districts any part of any one of which is situate within a mile of any part of another), I, Richard John Seddon, Minister of Labour, hereby appoint Wednesday to be the day on which all shops in the said district shall be closed as provided by that Act.

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by the said Act, I, Richard John Seddon, Minister of Labour, do hereby appoint that the said respective days shall be the days upon which all shops within the said respective districts shall be closed.
